Wow, I thought generals were usually forced to retire when things like this occur.
Possible life in prison for essentially extra-marital sex. "WASHINGTON — An Army general will face court-martial on a series of sexual misconduct charges, including forcible sodomy, in connection with several illicit affairs, and could receive life in prison if convicted, the Army said Tuesday. Included in the allegations against Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Sinclair are that he carried on affairs with and mistreated subordinate officers and later tried to impede the investigation of some of the offenses by deleting nude photos and other emails." |
|
The allegations are that he raped three of his subordinates. It's a he'll of a lot more than "extra-marital sex".
|
|
The woman admitted she typically wanted to have sex with the general, though she said that on two occasions in Afghanistan he exposed himself and physically forced her to perform oral sex, even as she sobbed.
|
|
I just don't see how guys like this rise all the way to general.
There had to be questionable behavior on his part long before he got promoted so high up.

Fuck him. Enlisted men have been sent to the brig for far lessor offenses.

It's that "forcible" word that is going to get him fucked pretty hard. If it's true, I hope he rots. |

Commissioning source?
Was he a classmate with Petraeus at West Point? Did these allegations surface before or after Benghazi? |

The people grooming him for promotion were doing the same thing. They just didn't get caught. Same dynamic that was at work in the Catholic Church. Different spanks for different ranks, and all that ..... |

I have personally seen where bad behavior from superiors is tolerated until it is beneficial to push for charges. |

It's not like it's an unknown thing for a female service member, or female in general to pull out the "rape" card when it suits them. I'm not trying to defend the General. We'll see what comes out in the wash. |

In the lead up to OIF I was working with a couple of Brit officers and one day at lunch the topic of officers disgracing themselves came up. I asked them what they do when a flag officer disgraces themselves. They said they put them in a room with a gun with a single bullet loaded in it, until they do the right thing. Don’t know if it was true, but it sounded really British. |

Well, the one that won was "World's premier escort service" I never got one before command caught on and yanked them. |

To be quite fucking blunt, the women who accuse him have lost their careers because they came forward, as they knew they would. So it's pretty fucking absurd, and shows a complete lack of comprehension of the military's justice system and this case to make a comment like that. |

Can't really evaluate that until the state of her career before the allegations is known. This wouldn't be the first instance of "mutually assured carreer destruction" after a promotion pass-over or judicial action. |

Generals need to understand you can't just rape and pillage like the good old days. You have this stupid shit called ROE. Plus women serve in the military in more than a sexual capacity.

The General deserves all the punishment if the allegations are true, regardless of the women's motivations for bringing the charges. If nothing else, to discourage other senior officers from exercising such pathetically poor judgement.
As far as the women themselves, there were 3 of them...at least. Over a period of several years it appeats. At least the one quoted only came forward when she saw she was being supplanted. And frankly, while it is likely that the General used his rank and power to coerce them, it appears that one or more of them only complained after things didn't turn out the way they wanted. So...UCMJ all around. But I guarantee that more people knew about this than the General and his harem. His aides (unless it was these three women), his CSM, his PSD...a General is not anywhere close to anonymous in a combat zone. His staff covered for him, and they need to be punished too. Loyalty to your command is one thing, covering up felonious behavior is a completely different beast. |

She trashed her career when she had previously slept with the man willingly. ( And obviously, rape is a terrible crime, and consent during a prior sexual encounter has no bearing on what may have happened at a later time.) |
