Making myself some tea and poured boiling water into a glass in the kitchen, and when i try to move the glass to table, the glass split into two, pouring hot water on my hand and a glass piece cut on my left hand. The burn hurt my left hand and right leg, it's not too bad it seems, but the cut feels worse, took off a piece of skin 1/4" long on the hand, went into the flesh, the skin is barely hanging there....and i just got bleeding somewhat under control with a a band aid.

Any idea what i should do next? put pressure on it? it's still bleeding, and coming thru the bandaid now as i peck on the keyboard. My right hand's fine, F**k.

Now I'm more convinced than ever of benefit training for weak side shooting. any limb injury could really take the fight out of you.

Direct pressure.

Elevation.

Put some antiseptic on it or if you don't have any pour some rubbing alcohol on it.

Not necessarily in this order.

Yeah if you can almost take yourself out with liquid burns and shattered glass, you probably should invest in some first aid training.

Clean, apply pressure, bandage.  If it seems worse after that, seek care.

Either needs stitches or it doesn't.
I've wrapped up and taped injuries that should have been stitched until they stopped bleeding.  Just wrapped a paper towel two or three layers thick and put tape on top to add pressure.  Took a couple of hours to really stop, but it was just the pad of one finger and I was at work and couldn't afford to stop.  Once the bleeding is under control, you can use super glue and then band-aid and it will heal well.
Keep it clean.

glass should be a very clean cut which will heal quickly if treated properly.

First, recognize if you need professional medical attention.  If the cut went completely through the skin, if anything underneath the skin is cut, or any major blood vessels are cut, get medical attention now.

Otherwise, you want to use butterflies, steri-strips, or similar products to pull the edges of the wound tightly together.  You want a clean wound as much as possible, do not use anything on it other than some saline to flush it out if needed or betadine for antiseptic.  Go all along the length of the cut.  You may need to put direct pressure on the wound for a few minutes to reduce the bleeding enough to be able to do this.  Once you get the sides of the wound all pulled together there should be little remaining bleeding, cover with a bandage to keep it clean and moist to allow it to heal.  Change the bandage if it gets blood soaked or wet, and put a new bandage on.  Do not let the wound dry, "air out" or scab over... keep it covered and moist to fastest healing and minimal scarring.

I've cut myself worse than that at work. Wrapped a napkin around the wound, applied duct tape. No more bleeding!Back to work.

Bro, laughs aside, if you don't know enough basic first aid to handle this yourself, you need to learn.  I'm not trying to put you down or embarrass you, but it sounds like you know less about the body you cart around every day than the guns that protect it.  That's a problem.  This won't be the last time you bleed, and other people do too.  Save the life of a hot chick, and she's yours forever.  There's a rule.

Take an American Red Cross or a local community college's first aid class.  Please.
