And why don't you have one? Got one about a month ago. Previous to that had a flip phone. Don't know how I lived without one.
I don't. I thought about it a lot, and the value proposition isn't worth what it costs right now in monthly fees. In a couple of years when the rate comes down the way that basic cell service did over time, then I'm in.
ETA: I currently pay about $100 every 3-4 months. The feature set of a smartphone just doesn't justify the sharp increase in cost, pushing that up to about $100 every 1 month, considering how often I'm around a computer and can do most of the same things. |
I've had one for about a year now. Can't wait to get rid of it and go back to a flip phone.
I will never own another touch screen ANYTHING as long as I live. I am not a 12 year old girl so I don't need to check mybook or facespace or tweaker every 30 seconds. |
I don't.
The only reason I have a cell phone at all is that my wife made me get one, so that if I get hit by a car while I am out on my road bike, I can call an ambulance. |
I don't. It's not worth it to me to pay an extra $40+ a month to have a bunch of crap i'll never use.
I don't and really have no desire to own one though I do need a new phone. My current flip phone is like 8 years old and the battery charge lasts for about 20 minutes.
I only use it to call people and send an occassional text. I don't want to pay $70/month or whatever for a data plan. |
Flip phone for emergency use. Other than that, show up in person or call my wife. Yes, I am a Luddite.

I don't own one even though I have been tempted by them from time to time. Currently, I use a cheap ($10) tracfone flip phone for all of my cellphone needs.
Don't want one, don't need one. Company pays for my flip phone 100%, could move up if I wanted to but have refused one now twice. I hate touch screens, don't Facebook or text, so I have zero need for it. Everyone in my company that has one has nothing but heartaches, same old "can't get my email", and their talk quality is shit. Foreman has one and all I hear is background noise. No thanks.

Couldn't live without my Samsung Galaxy S3.
It allows me to be a million times more productive...both with family stuff and at work. EDIT Actually, I have 2: I also have a Blackberry that my job provides me with. (But it should be noted that the blackberry sucks, and usually sits in my briefcase) |
Just have an old fashioned phone that you can send and receive calls and simple text messages on. Works for me. |
Never had an interest in one till work gave us all crackberrys last Sept. I went out and got my own smart phone the following week. Never even considered that I would be interested in one until I had one.
All I do is make phone calls. I don't want to be available all the time.
My Tracfone runs me about $120 a year.
When I can get an Android phone with a pricing model like my Tracfone, I might go for it. |
Just got me a brand spanking new flip phone. It is the upgraded model with a separate ICE button and 911 button.
I dont own a cell phone. I will not pay what it costs to have a smart phone to play on, and dont like people bothering me. Leave a message on the machine and I will call you when I have time.
I had the iphone 3 for awhile. Went back to regular phone, but my employer bought me an iphone 5. I just received it today. Charging it now. Smart phones are teh bombness.
I have a droid1 and no data plan. I'm sure I'd enjoy it but $70 a month or more for a phone is over the top for me. While I'd get some use of it I'm also connected enough.
Ive had one for a few years now, and I dont know why. Everyone that I have had has turned into a paperweight within 6 months of having. Son of a bitch shuts off when Im doing something it doesnt want to do (usally happens while Im trying to look up directions or transfer funds), drops calls like it's its job, and a laundry list of other nonsense. Seriously considering giving it up this next time around.
I don't tweet, chirp, tikl, squeak, facebook, vox etc.
And I'd rather spend the $$ each month on ammo & gear. Prepaid - $15/month and I rarely use up all the minutes. But my husband loves his! |
Nope. I don't feel any need for a tool that will enable me to do lots of things I don't do and am not looking to do.
I don't. 90 percent of the time my location won't allow for the use of a smart/cell phone so I just stick with my old flip phone when I can use one.
I do have an ipad though, that's pretty neat. I imagine a smart phone is alot like the ipad, just smaller. |

I don't. Have a flip up throw away one.
You're being tracked constantly on a smartphone. |
Still have a razr flip phone here. I guess I don't have one because I can't fucking stand the people 'round here with 'em. Everybody has their face glued to the damn things. Even during 'social' events like a dinner date or something. You look around and everyone at the table is on their phone. Really? You couldn't get away from facebook for 87 seconds?
I do. I wouldnt know what to do whilst taking a dumb without one anymore.

I have web access and can check scores and my email. That's all that I need my phone to do...that and make calls. $39.95 + $5 for web access and then taxes, with 450 LD minutes with 3000 off peak minutes. Texts are 20c each, but I don't text often. Chris |
Prepaid here. I can make a $25.00 card last 2 months. Plus, I only have to plug it in to charge once a week.
Yup. My Motorola W385 still works and has great reception. I rotate batteries through it and they'll still hold a charge for a couple of days. I can S L O W L Y send texts which means people don't bother me much 'cuz they don't want to have to wait for my reply.
I've found a 7" Samsung tablet a lot more practical to supplement my phone since I can almost always find WiFi when I need it. |
Dumb phone here. I have internet at home so why would I want to pay 30 bucks a month for more internet? I have been tempted, but so far I have fought the urge

I do not have a smart phone.
I honestly don't know how you people can live with those things. |

Same flip phone for the last 6 years. Some times I'm tempted, then I look at all the mindless automatons that play with it all day and say to myself I don't need one.
I worked with a guy that if you didn't need him for anything he would stay on that thing 8 hours straight and never look up.You go for lunch with a bunch of coworkers and nobody talks ,they all whip out their smart phones and start fucking with them and can hardly break away to order their lunch. No thanks I pass. |
NO...I work in front of dual monitors all week.
I had a canoe/kayak/camping trip over the weekend and there were people checking their "smart phones" in ziplock bags every 5 minutes. Sometimes you have to get away. Or I may just be getting old... Tom |
Don't have one because I don't need one. I have a life. I will say that I can see its utility as a business tool for some people.
I'm not a total Luddite. I do have a pay as you go flipper for emergencies. |
Had a smart phone with internet for a 6 month trial. My miniscule internet usage didnt justify the monthly fees so I canceled it.
I do not. I might enjoy it, but not enough to warrant the $$ data plan. |
I don't like smart phones. I prefer a simple phone with a manual keyboard and use an iPad for anything data/web/app related.
