Just got a new Siemans gigaset 4215 cordless phone,(it's way awesome). It takes AA ni-cad or NiMH batteries. I know one of them has charge "memory", and one doesn't. Which is which? Which do you recommend? Advantages/disadvantages? Thanks in advance...

Ni-cad - memory issue,
NiMH - memory issue, not as bad as NiCad
Li-ion - no memory issue (yea right)

My wife and I had the same cell phones w/2 battery each(NiMH), I ran batterys till shutdown, she did not. My batterys lasted 6 months longer.

Am doing same test now with new Li-ions, no results yet.

treat them all like 'memory' and they will last longer.

If a slow charge method is avalable, use it. Heat - bad.
