Hallelujah, prefer the Shrek version (Rufus Wainright) to Jeff Buckly or Leonard Cohen.
Smells Like Teen Spirit, Tori Amos's version is awesome compared to Nirvana's. |

Probably one of the best examples... |

I'll take crap for this but I think that Tool's cover of No Quarter is better than Zep's.

Children of Bodom covering Oops I Did It Again is better than Brittney Spears as well.

Mad World remake. The Tears for Fears version was lame, but I like the Gary Jules version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4 GOOD one. The TfF version is overproduced crap but the lyrics are powerful. The cello in the version above is just creepy. |

Either of these Love Hurts covers.

I like Bob Dylan, but most people that cover his songs do a better job.

Whisky in the Jar - Metallica = yes, Original = not so much Hahaha. The first time I heard an old version, I was pulling an old lady's car in to do some work on it. |

I'm old enough to remember when the original version of "Wild Thing" (by The Troggs) was new on the radio, which would have been around 1966. But I have always preferred the version by the band "X", which was done I think in the 1980s. And yes, I am also familiar with the Hendrix version from the Monterey festival (in my opinion, the second best version). Of course, nobody else on this board is old enough to give a shit.

I like Sam Kinison's version. I won't post the video as too much cleavage for GD

If you don't like the original song, why would you like the cover? Really?

If you don't like the original song, why would you like the cover? Really? AB Because covers can completely change a song. |
