I saw Austin Powers: Goldmember yesterday at the theater and laughed my ass off at the same time. After I left the theater a subtle joke hit me that most people wouldn't get. At the beginning of the movie where they're showing the Austin Powers movie within a movie you see Danny DeVito playing Mini-Me. After he flips off Austin Powers he fires an M-249 SAW, or as FN calls it, a Minimi. I just thought that was kinda funny.

I carried a M249 for 6 years and my vote is that he did not carry a SAW.  I however think it was a tommy gun.  The Tom Cruz as Austin bit was funny though.

Looked like a buttstock-less,short barrelled, twin pistol gripped SAW with a C-mag. Though the mag looked odd, like it was hanging off the bottom rather than angled off the side as on a SAW.

It was in fact a mini, he even says "I got your mini me right here for you!!" then starts firing it .. i picked up on that immediately, it was NOT a tommy gun, go see the movie again..

Yea it was about as funny as the others.. he didnt re-use TOO many of the old jokes.. but if you dont find yourself ashamed at laughing at extremely bathroom-humor related jokes you'll have a good time :)

Not possitive, but I thought it was a cut down Ultimax 100, Singapore's answer to the SAW.

Maybe not all coincidence Big Bear, you also have to remember that Hollywood is full of hypocrites.

I thought it was a Minimi, too, but looking more closely at it I thought it was a Negev with a beta-c mag?

I'd have to see the movie again to make sure, but I'm pretty sure it was not a 249.  I could be mistaken, but it looked more like an Ultimax 100, because I believe it had a 100 round drum (not a plastic belt box or nylon bag like the 249) and the Thompson-like forward grip.

Here's a better pick of a short Ultimax.

Also if I recall correctly the gun in the movie did not have a stock (could have been folded closed) like the gun pictured in the bottom of this pic.

I could be wrong, or my memory could be bad, but that's what I saw (no pun intended).

I saw Austin Powers 3 and I have to agree. It was the best out of the 3 movies. I'm not usually into black women, but Beyonce Knolls is One Hot Mama[:P]

Assuming your reaction rate to jokes is constant, I can guess that you started laughing hysterically while recalling the apple juice scene 1.195 hours after leaving the theater.

Actually DeVito says,

hey a$$holes!

I'm right over here, I'm mini Me, come and get me!

Here are a couple of screen captures of the weapon for you to decide for yourselves.

And a small movie clip of the scene. (20 sec, 3.5Meg)

I thought it was a Minimi too, although it looked too small and it maybe a movie prop. But after seeing the pics above, it definately looks like a Ultramax.

Goldmember is funny as hell! The starting is really cool, then it got funny, the middle made my sides hurt and there were several good moments at the end too.

No question about it, its the short version of the Ultimax 100.

I have had the chance to fire the normal version during the years because of my job. It is extremely easy to shoot because of the way the operating parts move.
