About time that socialist kicked the bucket. Meh. I still love The Andy Griffith Show. The black and white ones. The color ones were not so hot. |

I liked the show. Never liked him.
Don Knots, Goober etc. were the true talent. RIP even if he was a POS liberal asshole. |

i've read multiple times that he was the polar opposite of andy taylor. that makes me a little sad...i grew up watching andy griffith reruns and it wasn't fun to have the illusion shattered.
read similar things about radar o'reily. |

Gary Burghoff lives (part time) in the same county I do. Never once heard about anyone I know meeting him, though. |

A Face in the Crowd with Lee Remick; one of the best movies ever made and Andy Griffith did an outstanding job of making the viewers' skin crawl.
"You gotta' be luuuuuuuuuuuuved". Sort of reminds me of Obama. |

As stated above the old black & white show was the best but andy was a commie and a POS in real life. I saw an interview with Don Knotts, Goober, opie and Floyd the barber and they said he was a PITA to work with on the show. If you messed up your lines or did anything wrong he'd fly off the handle and curse you out.

She was famously unfriendly despite her character. I know for a fact you're full of shit and/or remembering wrong about Ron Howard and Don Knotts saying he was a pain in the ass to work with, as Ron has always said he was like family. If this interview exists, link to it. Not to mention Howard McNear (Floyd) has been dead since 1969, when Ron Howard was still young. I really don't think a teenage Ron Howard was badmouthing Andy in an interview alongside Howard McNear in the 1960's. |

Later in his life, I saw an interview with Don Knotts. He said that for the rest of his life after playing Barney Fife, almost every cop he ever met reached into their Sam Brown loops or magazines and gave him a bullet to keep. He also said that he had a trophy case in his office full of bullets and he had kept every bullet that was ever given to him. He proudly announced to every LEO he had ever met, "If you gave me a bullet, I still have it..." |

I worked with a guy who had previously been on many production crews for early television series.
He confirmed what several have stated here: Griffith was an arrogant, hotheaded PITA to work with. The only one he disliked more was Linda Carter (Wonder Woman) - "the nastiest bitch to ever walk this earth". On a more positive note, he said one of the finest people he'd ever met was Alan Hale, Jr., who played the captain on "Gilligan's Island". Hale would go to extraordinary lengths to befriend and help people, no matter what their station in life. He was universally loved by all who worked with him. |
|
He lived in North Hollywood (Toluca Lake) and I dealt with him personally as a phone guy and later as a supervisor at the Telco. He never treated me wrong, even when his phone was broken. Always very courteous to me. I do know he was afflicted with a chronic painful desease which made mobility for him difficult.
I never knew his politics. |

Oh, shit, I found it. The Opie trashes Andy video. This is like the Michelle Obama whitey tape.

IBTL. Only in ARFCOM GD would a thread about Andy Griffith's death turn into an internet pissing match .

My plan works, and Aunt Bea won't be dead much longer. Just need to go back to the Body Shop and get what I need to perfect my bath salts recipe.

Sad day. Many of us grew up on Andy.
I'll chalk up his socialism to age related mental deterioration. |

Regardless on the rumors that he was a PITA to work with I respected him for his work.
I was raised on The Andy Griffith Show and M.A.S.H |
