I've stayed out of this discussion about the pledge so far, but I guess I'm probably part of the smallest minority on this issue---I DON'T CARE.
As a believer in the Almighty, I have absolutely no problem with the Pledge having "under God" in it. On the other hand, as someone old enough to have learned the Pledge years before the words were added, I have no problem if they are not in it.
The Pledge is, after all, a swearing of loyalty to our country. I don't see it as a religious expression, nor do I feel that I am praying when I do recite it. If the majority of our citizens want the added phrase in there, however, that's just fine with me.
What does piss me of royally, however, are the motives of the man who brought this suit, and his absolute sliminess, in saying he was trying to "protect" a daughter who we now find out has abolutely no problem with the Pledge as it has been.
Am I the only one here who is OK with the Pledge either way?[:D]
