I had a few colors left over from the paint set that I bought, so I decided to use them up. I give you Any Fool Could Paint That Mess.

This was the best photo I could get, and it doesn't quite do this work justice, but you get the idea.

Suck it Miro!

For context, Queen Louisa of Prussia by Joan Miro.

Joan Miro proclaimed himself to be an assassin of painting because he believed that traditional painting styles were too bourgeois. This painting hangs in the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University.

Absolutely.

But the plain fact is that one of them is in a museum, and one of them will end up in the garbage truck. This is the sole defining characteristic between a 'modern' artist and a hack.

Here's one that I started this afternoon. It needs some touching up still. Again, bad photograph, but you get the idea.

It almost looks like.... something.  Therefore it doesn't qualify as modern art.

Paint an accurate rendition of a Dali or a Rene Magritte painting, and THEN you can claim victory over the Surrealists. Miro is kid stuff.

I consider Dali's art to be real art because it took skill and talent to paint a lot of what he made.

I'm not against imaginative, weird looking images in art. I'm against people who make bullshit and then having that bullshit revered by talentless, witless assholes who think that it's cool to be forever rebelling against your father.
