Local shop has some Saiga 12 gauge shot guns in stock for $599

Are they being imported again, or is this a great deal?

Tell me quick.

I read that the factory had some quality control issues and they shut down to retool some machines and they were planning on starting up again.

I didn't know the ATF ruling didn't go through. Is is pending or DOA?

So the frenzy is over?

This shop just got 5 new ones in. $599 seems like a decent price.

ETA: no side scope rail and a different thread protector, which makes me think these are brand new imports.

i see them at all the shops around here.  conversions are all the rage now,  i am thinking about getting one just to say i have one, is unloading a bunch of shot shells all at once  fun?

Yes, it is fun. More fun out of an 18.5" Mossberg, in my opinion.

AFAIK, the ATF issue happened at the same time Izmash shut down temporarily to re-tool, causing a huge lack of supply and an overabundance of demand.

I've been seeing a lot more Saiga's available at online retailers, and a general lowering of prices. I assume it means Izmash is exporting again at decent numbers. Additionally, Molot is debuting a shotgun built off the AK-47 frame so it'll be very similar to the Saiga...Should result in more deflationary pressure.

Different importer.  There are originals, then one with the importer marked out and new one engraved, and now the new importer.  The newest ones do not have the side rail.

Ok thanks for the info.

I will wait for the deflationary pressure to catch up and get one cheaper.

Thanks.

They were never banned. They switched importers.
