Rino Romney can't win no matter what teh elites of teh rep party say or the money the country clubbers throw at him.  He has not been able to get more the about 25% of the base of the party behind him.  And mark these words there is a lot of the base that will not vote for him in the general election if he is force down their throats.  Look for them to either stay home or go to a third party.  Besides there is not much a differnece between teh 2 and given a choice beetween a socialist adn a socialist trying to play a conservative they will pick the socialist everytime.

Major polls say otherwise. Always subject to change of course, but generally the American people as a whole electorate prefer Romney to another candidate. I know polls aren't everything, but they aren't nothing either.

There are many pragmatic Republican voters who may not vote for Romney in the primary but will do anything possible to avoid an Obama second term.  A lame duck Obama presidency would bring great pain and suffering on this nation.

This. If you believe otherwise, you're not thinking about the big picture and you'll help to damage the country further by putting bama back in.

This is going to basically come down to the USSC justices who will be replaced in the next four years. If you see that Obama gets back in, you will guarantee the court swing anti gun. What a fucking short sighted, idiotic, assinine move.

I can't argue with this.  If one wants to not vote for Romney on principle...well I can respect that.  But this constant chorus that Romney is no better or worse than Obama is crazy talk.  I have plenty of problems with him as well, but I think he would at least be marginally better than Obama if not significantly better than Obama esp. on the economy and judicial appointments.

Good grief, I wonder how some of you find the motivation to pull yourselves out of bed in the morning will all this negativity. Yes, the GOP nominee is likely to be Romney but so what people; while not ideal he's a quantum leap improvement over Obama. Some of you think Romney will be a bigger gun-grabber than Obama but even *if* that were true, (it's not BTW,) a GOP House and Senate would blunt that. With a 2nd Obama term you'll have F&F kicked up a notch and probably the FBI and CIA even getting in on the domestic folly's. If Obama wins re-election it's likely the Senate will stay Dem controlled and even the House; if this happens Obama will be unchecked his second-term and would have at least one additional SCOTUS appointment.

Some of you need to think long and hard about throwing a political temper-tantrum. At least conservatives will have some influence over a Romney president, how much do you think they'd have over an Obama second-term. Again, we didn't get in this mess overnight and we sure won't get out of it any faster.......

This.

Add to that Mittins and low turn-out means a GOP win. Don't underestimate the advantage a candidate that is not polarizing and seems competent has with Independents. If you give the electorate someone to hate they will.....Just saying.

Those who think Romney is a lesser Obama, truly have no idea what type of man Obama is. And especially what he will implement in his second term. Believe it or not, we have yet to see Obama's true colors. If he is re-elected, he will go full steam ahead with his socialist agenda as it is a lame duck term.

Romney vs. Obama.

Romney... Business mogul
Obama... Community organizer. Has never given anyone a job, and has never had to fire anyone.

Romney... Former Stake President in the LDS Church. Thousands (literally) of parishoners looked to him for moral guidance.
Obama... His minister said, "G–– Da–– America!"

Romney... The NRA, and the gun owners association in MA both stated that Romney *increased* gun rights in MA. His voting record did not match his ill-concieved and idiotic "assault weapons" statments when it came down to vote on gun rights.
Obama...  Has a clear anti-gun record from local politics in IL

Romney... In the face of a liberal state political system that wanted total .gov control of health care, instituted a system where he tried to maintain the free-market, control malpractice costs, and force those who have no desire to pay for health care to start paying their way. Perfect? Not by any means. But you cannot fault the guy for fighting the Dems, and trying to avoid total .gov control of health care.
Obama... Wants total .gov control of health care. No insurance companies. No free-market. Nothing.

The choice between Romney and Obama is clear...

Romney is the next McCain. Picked by the Democrats to lose. Obama is in for the next four years, that's a lock. The only question is if he'll continue on after that Kim Jong Il style, or pass his power on to the next "elected" Democrat.

Look man I am a right wing para military extremist Confederate American. I am not fired up on any of the R candidates. But the fact is the President only signs or vetoes legislation. He can drive the agenda somewhat, but the House and Senate are whats really important. That and Supreme Court nominees. If O wins again and he appoints even one more justice we and our kids are fucked. That is the bottom line. It took a long time for things to get this messed up and it will take a long time for things to get sorted out even if we don't witness a global financial meltdown in 2012. Stop whining and do what is possible to slow down the bleeding. Romney won't be grabbing any guns. Hell Obama hasn't even had a chance to sign any gun control legislation. He had to resort to Soviet style BS with Fast and Furious and that worked about as well as a football bat.

Not to mention that the dems will have a hard-time painting Romney as a bible-thumper looking to install morality cams into everyone's bedrooms and make sure we can only listen/watch G-rated movies and songs. The problem with Romney is conservatives look at him and go "YUCK".

Yes, he will appeal (sort of) to the squishy middle.  The problem is that while moderates, if given enough incentive, go vote, they don't work for candidates.  It's the hard-core who volunteer, put up yard signs, put bumper stickers on their cars, make phone calls, stuff envelopes, work the polls, walk the neighborhoods, write letters to the editor, etc.  They are the ones who get the vote out for their candidate.

So, the conservatives will go to the polls.  They may even hold their noses, stifle their gag reflex, and vote for Romney just because Obama truly does suck.  But - and here's the kicker - they won't work for Romney, and that's where we'll see the difference at the polls.  No Republican can win on a "At least I'm not as bad as Obama" campaign.  Bob Dole tried that against Clinton and failed.

Milquetoast moderate voters decide general elections, not so much "the base".

More conservatives voted in the '08 election than ever before. So McCain succeeded in turning out "the base", and yet still lost because the independents overwhelmingly went for Obama.

As long as "the base" turns out, Independents will decide the election.

Romney signed a law to permanently ban many semi-automatic firearms.  “These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense,” Romney said in 2004.  ”They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people"
