After a lengthy discussion among friends last night, we have come to the conclusion that where you meet your wives/SOs may be as crucial to whether or not a marriage lasts as any other often commented on factor.

For example buddy A met his wife at our local bar and they've been married 2 years. They are currently preparing to finalize their divorce.

Buddy B met his wife at a local hockey game, and they've been married 5 years and both love hockey and each other so far as we know.

Buddy C met his wife at church and they've been married 4 years and are happily married.

I met my ex in high school, but we got an annulment before the ink was really dry.

Inquiring minds want to know.

These days happily married guys could mean... two happily married guys.

I met my wife at a disco in Germany. Been married 30 years and raised three children.

A disco then was essentially a bar with a dance floor.

She hired me to do work on her home.
You know what it means when a lady hires a contractor, and she seemed to be good looking wool.
I unclogged her pipes and have been happily plumbing ever sinse.

A bar. 10 years ago. We dated for a few months, broke up and didn't see each other for a year and a half. We ran into each other again, at a bar, and have been together ever since. That was 8+ years ago. We just had our second child and couldn't be happier. Well, maybe if we could spend more time together.

A friend's dorm room in college. His room was just past the stairwell on the first floor, so it became the "hang out" spot that everybody came to on their way back from classes or the cafeteria. I met both her and one of my other long-term college girlfriends there.

We've been together since the 80s.

Both her and I had newspaper ads looking for roommate.  Housing in summertime Juneau was tight and expensive.  I showed up at her door with a 12-pack of Hamm's, so she let me move in.  That was 1986.
