My BIL was a JTAC in Afghanistan after he flew B-1's for a couple of tours.

He now is at the Academy training cadets for the glider program.

IB Sylan and Combat Jack....

That said...badass...an AF combat controller just got the Silver Star for directing F16 ordnance to the target with a 7.62 round through his lung...guess that's what happens when you spend too much tee time on your USAF golf course, reflective belt and all....

Yep.

Lau-10 rocket launcher pod (prolly loaded with smoke marking rockets) , AGM-65 , 2 x GBU-12 (laser guided bombs),  sniper pod (or LANTIRN.. These are designation pods.. And i believe the sniper pod is the obe adopted on the A-10C in the) and some sort of Flight or combat recorder (ACMI ?)

Winged aviators are not JTACs, they are FACs.  or in the case of the Air Force they are normally ALOs.

FAC/ALOs are suppose to provide more of the coordination piece while JTACs normally provide limited planning and coordination and more terminal control.
