the original Tea Party started during the Bush administration.  If referring to that one, then yes, I was involved.
If referring to the co-opted, "we have a bus" new tea-party, not really.

I was, until I realized that the tea party is just the politically active wing of the Republican Party.

There are too many people who have hijacked the movement to make it about things other than fiscal responsibility.

I consider myself part of the Tea Party movement but not a Tea Party member as there is no offical Tea Party organization, just a bunch of independent organizations doing their own thing.

Not really a member as there is no actual "Tea Party." But I do find myself agreeing with most of their positions.

I don't care for either version.

Small Gov't, less spending. Everything else is just a side show.

I didn't used to think of myself as a TP member.

But then I realized that despite some minor disagreements, I agree with the overall message and the plan, so why not throw my lot in?

So, yes, I am the Tea Party.

Yeah, but mostly because I think the Republican party needs to go and a real conservative party needs to come to power to lay waste to the bureaucracies and the leftists.

This. Tea party is a movement, not an organization. There is however a political party called the Boston Tea Party, created as a more conservative alternative to the Libertarian Party, which can't seem to get its act together. But most people don't even know about that one.
