I live in washington and the mascot of my school has been an indian for over 100 years. Just this year some church going bleeding heart liberals proposed to the school board that the indian mascot was offensive and must be changed. Now the school board has passed some sort of thing that says we must changed our mascot. I have even heard people asked the snoqualmie indian tribe if they found it offensive and they said no. A mascot expresses the pride of the team. It is not an offensive gesture. This is the most retarded thing ever I am gonna graduate an indian and then like after I leave they will change the name to something retarded like the salmons or something. Plus it will cost more money because we will have to change our football uniforms, etc. This is friggen stupid. The whitetrash liberals should not be speaking for the indians, the indians are perfectly capable of speaking for them selves. They do not find this offensive and they have not protested it. There was a demonstration at my school where a bunch of students walked out and it didn't really have much of an impact. And then one of the indoctrinated socialist students went on the news with the typical "I'm embarassed to be associated with this school, it's mascot is offensive to the indians blah blah im stupid blah." IM PISSED

In the paper today it said the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe has no problem with it and would actually like us to keep our mascot. They also went on to say that 81% of Indians polled (I believe there were 350 something polled) said they did not find it offensive. The school board is "taken by surprise" according to the paper.

Martsmth- There is no offense intend towards your people, you have been screwed over countless times by the federal government. I am sorry if it offensive you as we do not intend it. We have have been the indians for over 100 hundred years and we bear the name with pride this is the first time anyone has ever raised the issue. there is no disrespect intended. In fact the name of our city is also derived from indians. So is the city of seattle.

if you bar teams from being called the indians then notre dame should change their mascots because it offends the irish.

What I meant in my previous post was that I believe people should be treated equally regardless of race. The way i phrased it gave the wrong impression because i sometimes think one thing and say something else.
