hey, I see a solution in there for all the hungry college students.

Learning how to eat "on the cheap" was one of many valuable life skills I learned while in college.

Do more with less.  You're there to learn how to survive in the real world.  IMO the university is doing them a favor.

May I suggest they get part time jobs to feed themselves instead of partying/drinking non-stop? A college student could work 20 hrs a week and eat pretty good IF they plan it right.

Oh wait..most of them don't know how to cook and have beer/party as a higher priority. Welcome to the real world kids..

and it's always the cheapest beer possible. The handful of students that actually need the help, IE: going back to school, struggling with a part time job and a kid, yadda yadda yadda, they will continue to get it.

Holy cry me a fucking river.

I was a resident assistant for my sophomore and junior years to help pay for room/board and also they put money on your food card.

My senior year I worked three jobs while maintaining 18 hours a semester.

My first and second year in grad school I kept working those same three jobs to get by.  Ramen was my meal of choice.

These fucking panzies have been coddled for far too long.  The gravy train just stopped.  Either die or figure out how to live....I could care less which one you do.

My third year of Grad school I became employed by the Fed Bureau of Prisons.  The job sucks but the pay is good.  I've been working with them for 3.5 years now and still trying to complete my Masters (classes on the weekends).  But you know what, the BOP still has a metric shit ton of job openings and doesn't take a rocket scientist or an engineering degree to become employed.

America is lazy.

More from the Detroit News

Many see using food stamps while attending school as a scam, and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick described it in much that way in his new autobiography.

Kilpatrick, who was recently released from state prison after serving time for violating probation and awaits trial on federal corruption charges, revealed he used food stamps when he attended Florida A&M University in the late 1980s and early 1990s. At the time, his mother was a state representative and his father was a top Wayne County official.

"The food stamp game is an old hook-up in neighborhoods from Detroit to Tallahassee," Kilpatrick said in the book. "If you could get them, especially as a struggling college student, then you did." ..........

But some students say the change isn't fair.

"College students have so much debt as it is in the United States. It's hard for them to be able to pay all their bills,” Wayne State University student Erik Boyes told MyFoxDetroit.

"That could potentially be a negative impact for students," added Wayne State student Mohammed Almihtar. "Maybe they're going to have a hard time enrolling in school. That's going to push the education back, and that's not a wise way to do that."

30,000 people, 75 million dollars.  That doesn't add up in my book.

Thats $2500 each, which adds up to $1250/semester. Sounds about right for a meal plan.

I live in Michigan,  I am in school,  I work (2 jobs), I DON’T get any assistance or financial aid, never did.  Why was I paying for those 30,000 freeloaders to eat?   Was I paying for their tuition too?  A place for them to live?  What do they have to do to get this assistance?  This topic really burns my ass.  Get a f***ing job you  30,000 lazy  bums.  What we are creating is a society addicted to assistance and  no work effort.  Too many handouts.  I hope they are all U.S. citizens.

If they saved 75 mil by cutting that funding then people were obviously taking advantage of the program... Im sure there are a few that could really use the program (Edit actually if you can't go to school and afford your own lunch, then you don't need to go to college). I would imagine that the program was easy to get on board and it was being overly taken advantage of. 75mil to feed college kids pft.

I imagine it like this: Get food stamps, sell to family/friends for cash. Buy whatever you want...
