Plan would exclude Pittsburgh from proceeds of drilling fee

http://www.postgazette.com/pg/11121/1143028-454.stm

HARRISBURG –– When Senate President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati outlined his
plan for a drilling impact fee to reporters last week, he put Pittsburgh
on notice that the city has excluded itself from the party.
"If Pittsburgh so chooses not to allow drilling, that's fine," Mr.
Scarnati said. "But there are other communities that are having the
drilling, and the dollars will flow to where the impacts are."

That isn't sitting well with some Pittsburgh-area lawmakers

The whole thing is a shake down of the exploration process.  The state sees a cash cow with a well running several millions of dollars to complete.

So in essence, every consumer of natural gas is paying this fee for state-produced gas.  Guess what?  There are gas pipelines going into PA.  And gas will flow from areas that don't have this $10k fee tacked onto each well because drillers will go where it is cheaper to drill.

Because most of our lawmakers here are douchebags who would absolutely feel entitled.
