I go to the University of Missouri at Columbia which, as our wonderful administration never tires of reminding us, is one of the top schools for Journalism in the country. Because of this, and the school's proximity to Chicago and St. Louis, I have met many starry-eyed liberals studying journalism. When I ask them why the answer is invariably something along the lines of "I want to make a difference." Oh really? What sort of "difference?" What happened to reporting the facts? What are you going to include, or, more likely, omit, from your writing in order to push your agenda? I feel that we're entering a new era of yellow journalism. |
