Where did he leave from, what airline did he fly?  Isn't it illegal for a US Citizen to go to cuba?

he asked for and was granted permission by I believe the state dept. , (if not then it was some other dept.)

It was a leaking row boat with 20 other liberals in it.  Problem was, it was not leaking badly enough, so he made it. [rolleyes]

From a diplomacy standpoint it would indeed be interesting to know President Carter's mode of transportation to Cuba.  Just how formal a visit was it?  He could have flown Cubana from NYC or Reagan Intl.  But if he travelled on say Air Force Two that could be interpreted as a more powerful signal.  Interesting question.
