I had some gas in my 2.5 gallon red plastic lawnmower fill tank that I wanted to get rid of. I attempted to pour it into my car's tank and when I started pouring, it all spilled over and wouldn't got into the tank. Apparently, there's some sort of metal piece that's at the opening of the car's gas tank to prevent siphoning. WTF?

You gotta shove the nozzle in there pretty far and turn the container upside down.
At least that's what I had to do. |

Really? you dont know about the valves? Its the metal flap you see when you open the gas tank.

Hey, did you guys know I can make hamburgers out of ground beef? I'm like a fucking wizard around here.

Does your gramma know that you are dicking around with her car?

Wow, observation fail for the OP. They added those little doors when? Like 1975?

Remember when your grade school teacher said there are no dumb questions? Well, she lied to you.

If I were you, I'd find the nearest pool, and throw that fuel can away.

|

I am able to pour from a can without spilling on my Honda..Same gas can it leaks on the Ford. The answer is a longer Spout to keep it from spilling..

this thread rates about the same as with the guy that thought you could see hawaii from the californian coast...

I just had the mental image of the OP standing there, can in hand, gas spilling everywhere. All over the car, himself, the ground, yelling "Make it stop, why would you do this to me!!!!"
Instead of just removing the can as soon as it didn't work right. |

Gas cans suck harder every year, It does seem. I'd pay $10 for a nice cap/nozzle that doesn't spill, controls the flow and allows you to empty the can into the car, but no–– government must save us. Gas caps are a perfect example of government.

Glad this is a funny thread.
I guess I didn't get the memo about how this shit works. I've never had to fill a car gas tank anywhere but at a gas station. Guess I'd be screwed if I ran out of gas on the side of the road. And as funny as this thread is (even for me), I still don't get WTF happened. |

thats not to prevent siphoning...thats to prevent leaks if/when you roll over.
