Define art? We have things hanging on our walls but I don't think I would classify them as art.

My wife is a painter and has done some print making. I'll have to get some pics up of the stuff she has done. I'm about as far from an art critic as one can get but I like the stuff she does.

I have a Curio Cabinet filled with lots of non western european art that I have picked up in my world travels, as well as a number of original 18th and 19th Century Native American and European Military artifacts.
Then there is a lot of my own and my fathers Porcupine Quillwork, Taxidermy ect I have some prints by Robert Griffing and others that Ive not yet convinced the wife to let me put up on the walls. |

SO does most of the decorating.
My office is the only thing I've decorated. A few motocross photos from my amateur racing days along with the trophys/plaques, the Me Wall with my various diplomas and certificates, my bear head mount from a few years ago over my desk and a large limited edition print "Lion and Lioness in the Tall Grass". To lazy to take pics right now. |
Mostly Alaskan/native stuff. All our prints are signed/limited edition and about 1/4 of them are personalized by the artists (Byron Birdsall, Joann George, Dick Miller, Rie Munoz and a few others...my wife knows them, and one is a very, very close family friend) and we also have some Alaskan figurines (C.Alan Johnson) and other native pieces (masks, carved items, baskets).

I have young kids, so the art adorning my walls consists of boogers and dirty handprints.

Mostly oils but a couple pen and inks and water colors, mostly landscapes and seascapes, a couple of nautical paintings of old long gone tall ships. A few very old maps in my office - I like old marine and topo maps. Photographs are all non-art (momentos pics of family and friends), except one excellent print my wife took and I enlarged of a storm approaching on our lake at sunset.

I have a print of a pig jumping off of a diving board into a water lily covered pond.
That's all the art I have. |

I've got to admit, I do have a copy of Starry Starry Night, but its in the basement.
Most of what I have is from artists that I personally know. I have two prints by Vivi Crandall, who was a family friend, but she's the only one that's really famous. I have a comic strip drawn for me by my oldest friend. I have several original ink drawings done for me by a guy I've known for fifteen years. There's also some landscape photography taken by a girl I used to date, a poster of a 50's style pinup that was painted a few years ago using my girlfriend at the time as the model and several bronze statues of various wildlife. In my gun room I have some WWII propaganda posters and some diagrams of various weapons. I also have a bust of Shakespeare ala the original Batman series. |
closest thing I have to art is my vintage lighter collection.
Lets see... I have Art of the Tactical Carbine 1 and 2, Art of the Dynamic Handgun, Art of the Dynamic Shotgun...
I've got some paintings of old-time oilwell stuff, a couple escher prints, a big copper lonestar oner my hearth, and in my reloading room lots of gun stuff.

About 3 years ago I made a thread asking folks what kind of artwork they had in their homes. I figured it was time to do the same thing and see what kind of art the folks on here have. If all the art you have are any of these, don't bother replying: http://www.elvisinfonet.com/image-files/artwork_velvetelvis01.jpg http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/gogh/starry-night/gogh.starry-night.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vCJ5ph6Hw5w/S6O0nJCp6-I/AAAAAAAADwc/nG4lZ1H36mE/s400/dogs+poker.jpg If I had an authentic Van Gogh on my wall I doubt I'd be posting in this thread....I'd be on my private Carribean island right now sitting in the sun. We have a few random oils from nobodys but my my prized possesion is a Diemer watercolor. Actually been meaning to have it reframed....need to get that done one of these years. Always wanted something from one of the great impressionists but it would be way past my price point. Have seen a few random sketches by Picaso that were affordable but Im not into cubism and really dont find his art appealing...its interesting, but not something I'd hang up...it would be an investment piece and I just never found a good deal. My favorite period was 14th-17th century European but I also like early Realism period stuff. Unless I hit the lottery I'll be enjoying it at the museum. |

I have all sorts of things I gather from foreign ports around the world. I make it a point to find something unusual each time I sail. Latest is a five foot wall hanging textile from Senegal. I have some thiungs made from trash I got form SOuth Africa, and some hadmade hangings from Cape Verde Islands on the walls. These go of course with the big face welded together from car parts from Key West, and the Caribou antler childs toy from Churchill manitoba. These look good near the harpoon, and the paiting of a woman baking bread from the Azores Islands. My wife made a wall hanging from a burlap coffee sack, and that's pretty cool too. The stuff from Dutch Harbor Alaska sits on the hutch, as do the Ceramics from Cape Town. Also hanging are the wool pieces from Iceland, and various plates and some recent stuff from Portugal.

I actually DO have Starry Night and a couple other Van Goghs.
Mostly local artists, lots of pop art prints, some MC Escher.... I doubt my GF would let me hang the type of shit I wanted to around the house anyway. |
I have a variety of lithographs, but the most interesting piece is a massive, brass-colored, plaster bust of Chopin that was an artist's proof prior to the final metal casting. It sits in my living room. It used to be in my parents living room before they died, and has scared generations of family children.
The final metal bust sits in front of Kleinhan's Music Hall in Buffalo. The artist was my great uncle. |
Nothing too special. A couple of oil paintings done by no-name artists, a couple of finger paintings done by a chimpanzee. Lots of ceramic stuff too.
The only thing the wife and I have hanging in our house is a mirror. That's it.
