Headed up to Montreal for a few days with my girlfriend as she does some work. What are the must do things in that area? Any good places to eat? Not interested in clubbing or strip clubs.

Moishe's Steakhouse on St. Laurent.  You should have a jacket but they happily served my friends and me anyway.  Expensive but good.  ETA:  If you want to REALLY treat your GF right, then dress appropriately and take her to Moishe's.  They had two waiters for my table of 3.  Never had to ask for a refill.  They were watching us to take care of our every need, but weren't "in the way".  They crumb  your table, etc.  Very nice to treat your lady there.

Schwartz's Deli, also on St. Laurent.  Absolutely the BEST smoked meats.  Please if you eat anywhere you've GOT to try that place.

They also have a decent metro system... check out this map.  Some stops might not be 24/7 though, so check into it before you spend the whole night on the town.

I don't know this from experience, but I heard they have some really awesome strip clubs.

I have also heard this.  The Canuck should be along shortly.

If you're into history, a foodie, or like strip clubs, you're not going to run out of anything to do.

I'd go to the Canada HTF, actually.  They are good guys over there.

As a young man I lived within weekend roadtrip distance. I have nothing to offer due to the fact that you have no interest in the strip clubs

Make sure to get some of those montreal steak spices I always see in the store. Probably cheaper and better quality there.

You've been to both?  Because my experience is 100% opposite.

rue de St Catherine

Place Jacque Cartier

Notre Dame

Casino de Montreal

Olympic Stadium

Mont Royale

Gardin Botanique

Fort Stewart

Various Malls (Eaton Center was our favorite)

Gare Central (fun place to people watch, great pastries and they have a Tim Hortons)

Parc Jean Drapeau

Campus of McGill
If you can get away go to Mont Tremblant for a day.

Quebec City is an awesome weekend trip. I like Quebec City better than Montreal. (Sorry Marc)
The 100% best place to get cheap eats is Nouilles U & Me on rue de St Catherine.

Moishe's was very very good. Also had steaks at "The Keg" they were crowded but food was good. Had lunch at Ruebans today. Smoked meat sandwich was better than any I have ever had in NYC. Gotta figure out dinner yet for tonight.only bad thing so far was a speeding ticket on i88 in NY. First ticket ever and cop got me at 80 in a 65

Wife and I went a few years ago.

We took the train to Quebec City from Montreal. It was a nice train ride and we had fun in QC.

Another vote for Fort Stewart.  I visited it, bought a book from them and even quoted it.  Last year I had an article published in Muzzle Blasts Magazine based on an incident related in that book.

Not to be missed, have the duck in a can and the poutine with foie gras.  Outstanding!

We also liked; Notre Dame, Gardin Botanique near Olympic Stadium, Mont Royale, and Fort Stewart.

Lock your car and take the fuses out. Our group had the drivers brand new 4X4 truck and brand new trailer stolen on a caribou hunt we were going on the same day we arrived in Montreal.
The very next week some friends on another caribou hunt had 2 4X4's plus their trailers stolen within a half hour of arriving.
Montreal police acted like the English language wasn't allowed. Found out later it was real common for 4X4 thefts in the city.
Hotel we were staying at had a locked fence around their parking lot in back that was full. When we went to put the truck in, some guy trying to pull out hit two of the cars. Lot was jam packed with vehicles so we parked just to the right of the hotel entrance. Last saw the truck at 11 p.m., got up and checked on it at 3:30 to get to the airport the next morning and it was gone.
