Maryland law says a person can use deadly force if he or she has a reasonable belief that his or her life is in imminent danger, and if that person uses no more force than reasonably necessary.
This sounds like the media term "co-conspirator" |

Guys you realize this is an OLD story (like last summer) and was posted here at the time.
IIRC since that time they did drop the charges, after much public pressure. |

The defense fund's website says that the trial is in July; I did a Nexis search and an article in March indicated that the businessmen were still facing charges. So it doesn't look like the charges were dropped.
