Everett officer's son charged in shooting of his best friend
EVERETT — The teenage son of an Everett police officer has been charged as an adult with second-degree manslaughter in the accidental shooting of his best friend.
Michael W. Franckowiak, 17, of Marysville, was criminally negligent when he pointed a loaded 9-mm handgun at Chase Roodzant, 17, Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Jim Townsend alleged in court documents.
The two had been drinking beer and smoking marijuana at the apartment of a 26-year-old man in Marysville before the gun discharged last Wednesday evening, Townsend wrote. Roodzant died early the next day.
