I don't know how the law works in NY but a buddy of mine here in VA just received a mystery wheel for his bicycle. Turns out its some $1,000 racing wheel he had ordered, cancelled the order (with confirmation from the seller) and ended up receiving anyway. Supposedly as the law here in VA works is that if it was sent by accident with documentation to support, the recipient is under no obligation to send back or pay for it and the seller is SOL.
Hope your situation works out to be different

I'd find it kind of hard to believe the police would really do anything. I'd call the guy and at least threaten it anyway. He'd have to be a real shithead to just keep the parts.
For a couple hundred bucks, you could probably hire a private detective in the area to stop by and get them. |

For just a little more, you could get that angry looking guy on the street corner to stop by and get them _and_ fix the guy's attitude
