It is childish and petty, but they should be able to burn books if they buy them. A far better demonstration would be to put on display all of the atrocities that are permitted and carried out under Islamic law (stoning, honor killings, mutilation of women, etc.). Use pictures, video, first hand accounts, quotes from texts, etc. I am sure that with some effort they could put something together, but it is much easier just buy some books and a lighter.

I'm a Christian, and I think it's ill-considered at very best. It does absolutely nothing except to play into their stereotypes and preconceived notions. It gives us no advantage (tactical or strategical), nor does it win hearts and minds; indeed, all it does is further enrage them. My opinion is based on pragmatism, not fear. Speaking strictly to the Christendom / Islam dynamic, this kind of action does nothing to bring people to Christ. The Gospel is offensive enough all on its own.

I just see no need to stoop to their level of petty theatrics. There are those that do not support the Islamofacists (what percentage, I do not know), and I respect their belief in their religion. |
