Lube that won't dry out easily?

I really don't have to worry about humidity lol, but I find that my guns frequently dry out. I usually use CLP to clean and lubricate my guns, but I've found that not shooting my guns for a month or two leaves little if any lube left. Is there any quality lubricant that lasts longer and performs well?

Well, the traditional lube is KY. But, you and your boyfriend should just look at the different options and try tem until you find one you like. Don't forget to make sure that the lube and your condoms are compatible.

When all else fails, motor oil stays slippery for a looooooong time.

Steel lubed with CLP should not be noticably wet.

Apply, wipe off excess, fughedaboudit.

Try a grease instead. TW-25B works great, as does Eno's Slide Glide (I use the "lite" version).

If those are too expensive, then consider picking up a quart of Mobile 1

I second TW-25B

Been using the stuff since 1999. Simply awesome, and NOT water solubule (sp?) like some others (Tetra).

CLP seems to stay wet on my guns indefinitely until I shoot them. It dries up pretty fast once it gets hot. I tend to leave them fairly wet after I clean them, though.

Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic. I've been using it for a long time with good results. And it's WAY cheaper than most of the other lubes.

But you have to be very careful to pick a condom that is compatible with axle grease.

I've switched to a full synthetic 10 weight motor oil. Its cheap, never dries out and provides excellent lubrication.

Yep. Doesn't dry out after a few mags like CLP is prone to do.

Coastal Premium Moly EP Grease is recommended for use where an NLGI No. 2 EP multipurpose grease is specified. Applications include automotive chassis, wheel bearings (excluding disc brakes) and universal joints, off-highway and construction equipment, trucking, mining, and farming equipment, as well as many other industrial applications.

I bought a (1# ?) can years ago at an auto supply. Stays put. Great for summer months.

I use an oil like CLP for cold weather.

I actually prefer the drier lubes. I think that although it appears dry, you still got plenty of lube action going on.

I don't like my weapon dripping like geri-curl.

You may be using too much and as the CLP drips it will pull the lube away from the working parts. What you want is just enough to creep into the space between the working parts and no more than that.

A very light film on all the exposed metal parts is also all that is needed to protect them from rusting for years. Again, if you have it too wet the lube will drip away and pull any remaining lube with it.

I have been using Brownells Tactical Defense gun oil for a while now. Pretty good stuff, stays moist and visible.
I am pretty sure it is also nothing much more than repackaged Mobil 1 synthetic oil with a few additional properties but what the hell, it works very well.

get a 1 quart can of medium weapons oil from a gun show. it comes in a green can from the military. its all i use. its all i have ever used. they sell for a buck or two. if its good for the military its good for me. i put it on a rag and wipe the gun down with it. i dont touch the gun with my bare hands after i oil them i hold them with the oily rag as i place them into the rack.

You seem to forget that the product that the OP no longer wants to use is the primary firearm lubricant of the US Military.

You will find there are many different answers.

I just started using synthetic bearing grease, but have also used Mobil 1 with very good results.

Alright, I'm thinking about getting TW25B for long term storage and Slip2000 EWL for lubrication before shooting and for more frequently used firearms.
If I plan on not firing the gun for some time, should I get also try to get some grease down the barrel? Put some on a patch or boresnake, and run it down one or two times?

And has anyone tried Gunzilla as a cleaner? Just heard about it, and apparently it rocks the house.
