Well, let's add to the paranoia...
A few years back, a lot of states passed laws that National Guard troops, when on duty, had the same powers (govt has powers, not rights) of search and arrest as a regular police officer.
But, to make matters worse, many states have reciprocal agreements... when a National Guardsman is in your state doing whatever in times of emergency, he has the same powers and such as a homeboy NG.
What does this mean? It means, your state gov can declare an emergency for whatever reason... flood, earthquake, hurricane, bio/chem/etc terrorist attack... and call out the Guard. He can also borrow NG from other states to help out. They all have the power to search, seize, arrest.
Not only that, there was another thread re ammo sales restrictions from LC. I read that, but it was not what I thought... there are backdoor ways to restrict gun rights, by denying you ammo. There have already been cases in some states where ammo sales were temporarily halted during, for example, 4th of July weekend, or the immediate aftermath of a hurricane, and other temporary "emergencies".
So, if they can deny you your 2nd Amendment rights for a few days, why not longer?
