...and I just read the "Challenge coin etiquette" thread.
I had a great day at work yesterday and was out with a buddy having a few whiskeys.
I noticed someone down the bar wearing a subdued U.S. flag patch on a ball cap. He looked like a current or former 'operator'.
I overhear him talking about the Corps. Nice!
I dug out my 2nd Tank Bn challenge coin, tapped it on the bar and slid it down in front of him. He stops talking, looks down at it, then up to me.
He says "Did I just get coined in Norwich, Connecticut?!"
"You sure did. Don't have one do ya?"
He did not. I showed mercy and ordered a Stella Artois instead of the Crown I was drinking.
I hadn't used a challenge coin in
years. It felt great to 'win' but even better to meet another Marine.
