The Griptilian is stainless. Out of the running.
Also, no serrations or hooks or other stupid blade tricks. I hate those. Just a smooth edge full length. CJ |

I hate all of the stupid bullshit they put on knives that I will never use. Does anything from CRKT catch your eye? i love their M21/14 knives, but I'm not sure that they qualify with your list.  |

Spyderco Delica. Except for the liner-lock, it fits. It's also a pretty handy EDC knife.

There are several Benchmades that would fit those criteria. Whatever you do, don't get a CRKT. Those things are shit and you'd be better off with a free knife you got with a can of cheap dip.

Your pricerange: Kershaw assisted opening, has "grip tape" in spots on handle, keeps a good edge. They made a huge run of them for Snap-On in red/black.
Good Knife: Benchmade with the options you like. |

Kershaw "Speed bump"
Its an assisted opener right about "4. Wife got it for me a year ago and now I dont leave home without it. A hair over your price cut but its worth it. Best pocket knife I have ever owned. |

Spyderco Stretch is what i carry
not a liner lock but better i got ZDP-189 steel but you can get VG10 for around $70

Sadly Benchmade has discontinued the Red series. But some can still be found in stores.
I favor a Clip point of the seeming more popular Drop point or Tanto I have several Benchmade Pika (3.5") and mini-Pika's (2.5"). Plain simple and around $40. Don't know which product of there's I substitue with it now. Maybe the Spdyerco as others have recommended |

I guess it's stainless (440C) but the Mini Griptillian is in my opinion the best thing going.

I'm not really focused on a specific lock type, but easy one-handed operation, both opening and closing, should be very easy,
switchblade easy.  This is the one I had before. A Gerber. After break-in, operation was stupid fast. I liked it but the stainless blade didn't hold an edge worth a damn. CJ |

I use a Kershaw tanto blade blur from Walmart.
Probably the only thing made in the USA at Walmart. $55 or $65 can't remember. |

Except for the non-coated blade, you described the Tanto Blur advertsied at the top of this page.
I would suggest you go to a Wal-Mart and feel one out and see what you think before you make a final decision. AWESOME knife. I LOVE mine. Sharp as hell and holds an edge well. Made in America and solid built with an smooth, easily operated open-assist. All for $57 + tax at any Wally World. Just my .02 |

If you don't want the griptillian, I'd go with a kershaw leek with the composite (D2) blade.
I have a junkyard dog 2 that's awesome, albeit a little large. It's sharp enough to shave part of a hair off of the rest. |
