personally, i carry a cold steel gunsite2, and a benchmade stryker, sometimes a spyderco police model. i was just wondering, it seems likeeveryone carries a "tactical folder"
|
|
Surely. I carry the AR15.com tactical folder in OD Green. Quick opening, sharp blade, just the right length, I love it!

Whats the difference between a Tactical folder and a pocket knife?

I did carry a Spyderco, one of the smaller Horn models, but my wife took it. [V] It would not be right, I guess, to have a Mexican wife who didn't carry a knife, now would it? It looks pretty cool, and very discreet, clipped in a pocket of her black leather purse.

Benchmade 690 Elishewitz #442/1000
Rosewood handles with carbon fiber inlays. Titanium liners, spoon pocket clip, thumbstud, serrated, and sharp as hell. Santa Claus(wife) loves me! I believe they call this a gentleman's tactical folder. |
|
the link appears to be down now, I WILL try again later.
BTW, was spyderco the first company to use the pocket clip? it would be interesting to know how this whole thing got started. |

I carry the Benchmade November 2000 Knife of the Month.
I know it is a collectors item, but the wife got it for my Birthday (yes, my B-day is in November) She told me to carry it and use it...so I do. I love the knife...very fast opening with a flip of the wrist. medcop |

CRKT Apache II - Non serrated version (so I could fly on airplanes with it.) No longer. [:(]

Victorinox Classic... Fearsome weapon, you can't take it on a plane.
|
|
Benchmade BM350, plain blade, stainless.
Lightweight, < 3 oz. Opens so quick, my son asked me if it was spring loaded. You can shave with it. What more could you ask of a "Gentleman's knife"? |

when i went to the sheriff's for my CCW, he asked if i had any sharp edged tools (had to go to booking for the picture). from my right pocket i took out my benchmade axis 710, from my left pocket i took out my crkt K.I.S.S money clip and i gave him my keys which had another crkt K.I.S.S

Here's mine, I love it:
and if I can somehow justify the $250 price tag(!!!) I'm looking at one of these from Strider Knives www.badassknives.com/mainstrider.html |

I carry a pocket knife. It isn't expensive enough to be a "tactical folder". [;)]

Emerson CQC7 with wave. Kinda beat up, but i use it every day.

Got a Master Knives Tanto folder on it's last legs, but it still cuts.
Smith & Wesson SWAT Tanto folder (the thin one) waiting in the wings. |
|
Spyderco Native at home, Spyderco Delica w/ serrated blade at work.
I like the ones carried tip up, so one handed opening is really one handed opening. |
|
Yes,I always have the Gerber L.S.T. in my pocket, sometimes I carry the CUDA(Camillus),tantoblade, serrated.the only problem is... i flick it open, then close it way too many times, gotta stop doing this effecting eyesite going blind
...er,scratch that, It's not my folder fault. |
|
I carry a totally sweet ninja sword. A FOLDING ninja sword.
OK, so I carry a CRKT "Point Guard". But it is totally sweet, and I could flip out and cut someone's head of just like that. [chainsawkill] Just. [bounce] Like. [bounce] THAT! [bounce] |

I have a couple Tactical folders. Here are my favorites that I purchased at the end of January, after lots of research...
Benchmade Osborne 940, green handle (black also available) with black Teflon coated reverse tanto-style blade, combo edge, and axis lock. The axis lock allows the blade to open and close easily and quickly (even compared to the Kershaw I am about to tell ya about). This is great for an every day knife since its lightweight, thin, easy to use, and SHARP! http://www.benchmade.com/detail.asp?id=8081111997314&item=49 Kershaw Ken Onion Boa, black, TiN black combo edge blade, with speed-safe opening (AKA "spring assist"). This thing is twice as big, and twice as heavy as the Benchmade. The blade does stick out a little to protect it from closing on your finger. It also has a liner lock. http://www.kershawknives.com/boa.htm I prefer the Benchmade over the Kershaw since I can flip it out and close it very quickly... |
|
Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Covert Folder in my pocket.
Gerber Guardian Back-up in the car. |

Smith and Wesson SWAT folder, plain edge. The action is smooth and easy enough that i can open it as quickly as my friend's Kershaw Blackout(with SpeedSafe). Fits my hand perfectly, and and is sharp enough to shave with. And yes, i have proved that. Also a generic, all metal butterfly. Cheap, pretty good point, and looks cooler than anything being opened, even if it's not a 'tactical folder'.

Spyderco by Wayne Goodard.
|

I carry a S&W Swat tactical folder, it was pretty cheap (less than $50 I think) and is a good strong design and the blade flips open if you snap your wrist just right. Strong and cheap and I don't care if I lose it or break it. I dremeled off the S&W logo though. I have a microtech that stays home, it's too nice and costly to carry, and it's illegal to carry a auto knife in Texas. Funny, they let me carry a gun but won't let me carry a auto knife. Rediculous.
|
|
A pair of CRKT Crawford/Kasper, one small, one large.
I like CRKT because they're cheap enough to replace every 6 months or so, or whenever one gets lost or dropped overboard. |
|
Used to carry a Spyderco Horn religiously, but got tired to beating it up at work. Acquired a Kershaw Scallion for my work knife and a Boa (multicolor) for the hell of it. These are pretty sweet for the price. The Scallion is very responsive and a constant conversation piece for about 3 weeks running. If you haven't handled one yet, give it a try.
The Boa is a little large, and not quite as responsive (via the "flipper") as the scallion, but I'm not disappointed. Bought it half for the speed-safe system, and half for the steel. It's the first knife I've owned in CPM440V. |
|
i have one of the ares (elishawitz) axis lock benchmades i carry real good knife, but more than anything over the past 6 years i have found that i carry my cqc7 more than anything. the number one hard use knife int he world. it is beat to shit and will still split hairs. used it and a ball peen hammer to cut through the h bone on the 8 pointer i killed 2 years ago. (forgot the saw) imo is the greatest knife ever made have cut or opened the following with it.
boxes windows cardoors bones wooden crates explosives kindling my finger para cord rope etc etc etc |

OK OK enough already lol I am appropriately shamed. I will have to get one of those beautiful AR15.com tactical folders to carry when I'm "off duty", but for now and most of the time when I'm working(all the time spring/summer/fall)I carry a beat up Swiss army pocket knife(small one with just two blades)since I am constantly using it to cut into turf I would not want to desecrate a beauty like the tactical folder.

I was just wondering if anyone out their actually carry's a micro-tek? I saw one at a gun show recently that was a out the front model that retracts as fast as it comes out. One small problem though. the $500 + price tag. I have always wanted. a micro-tek but don't know if I would carry it for fear of screwing up the finish anyway. So who carry's one?

Cool features on it: LED red light (button is the swiss army logo) and ball point pen!. I got a clear blue one-- sharp and compact. |
