And how often?

Church?
I do not attend church but I believe they have a purpose and a place and if you are a believer you should abide by the rules, 10% of your gross, especially if you are a member. |
10% out of each paycheck. Faithfulness/trust in God and Jesus works, I have seen it.
10% plus a little bit to round it off to an even number. Works out to about 13% after all is said and done. It's the least I can do to support a group of believers in a God who has helped my family so much. Plus, we are able to give in other ways, including volunteering to teach, help in the nursery, security, and teach a class every wednesday night. We also give money as a family for folks who need it aside from our tithe. I can't put a dollar amount on my blessings, but I can give what is HIS and a little more to help worthy friends and families.

Non believer - $0.00.
Give the church your money if you want, if it helps you, your family, or your concious. |
Our church has an offering box, we tithe every other week and give $50-$80 each time.
I stand corrected, we give weekly. |

I give to The Salvation Army, and a City Rescue Mission.
They are VERY accountable with the $$$ ENTRUSTED to them. My Wife is President of the SA Women's Auxiliary. I also assist with visiting the Old Folks, bring them presents, play my guitar and do sing a longs. |
10% of my check.
Very, very, quickly (dang near immediate) after I receive the direct deposit. |
We give a set amount each time we go, and occasionally more when there are appeals for specific causes (missionaries, nuns, capital improvements etc). We give to help our local church and the things the church does for the community, not to fill the coffers of the Vatican or a mega-church pastor with a private jet.
Personally I can't see the justification behind the 10% thing and would leave a church if we were pressured to do that. |
You're supposed to put money IN? That explains those dirty looks I get.
Only 10%???
I give everything I have left at the end of the week. That's how Jesus wants it. Anything less and you're going to hell. |
Nothing at my wife's parish. The father or whatever you call him is a regular at the casino. |
Why the F do you want to know?
That is between a man and his god. Not a dick beating contest on arfcom. |
We tithe around 10%. Lately that's not been going to the church, but to more direct charity.

I usually realize I don t have any cash about five seconds before they break the offer plate out. oops.
I put in $5 every time I go, but I set aside 10% of my income and donate in chunks to church events or needy people throughout the year.
I asked the pastor for guidance about this and he said that if I felt led to give to the poor instead of the church to give to the poor, I should do that instead. |
If you follow the Bible it says to give your first fruits joyfully. I am not always happy about the amount we give, but it is 10% BEFORE taxes. I did not have the money one week and almost skipped it. I still gave and was really taken care of that week. I always make sure God and the church is thought of first. No joke. It's also no ones business who does what.

I am not a Christian, and short of one funeral, have not stepped foot in a church since I was in Catholic School. Just curious what the concensus was on the matter. |

This thread will get some traction with the nah sayers. I will say this.
I have given enough in the past 5 years. Some through the church, some not. Every bit was worth it. |

I'm a bad Christian. Throw me into the sea and the shit storm will stop.
