It has been in my safety deposit box (bail out kit) since before Desert Storm. I bought that watch used in 1984 from a friend who needed money to take a girl on a trip. Yes she was beautiful. I paid $2500.00 for it. Most Subs could be had used for $500.00 to $1000.00 at the time. He was suppose to buy it back. Every time we spoke he would say I need to get that watch back from you one day. Yes I would have sold it to him for what I paid for it. He passed away a few years ago, so official it became mine. It just got it back from a tune up and a new crystal install. (only one kidney) It has the wrong bracelet. I also have/had an earlier one that my dad wore in Vietnam. I just gave that one to my son who just graduated college. Regards |

Around that time is when I enlisted. I could not fathom or afford spending $1500 on a new Rolex or 750$ for a used one then. The 130$ Seiko 6309 at the PX or a 75$ used one in a pawn shop was a big expenditure for me then. (As was $40 for a real Kabar instead of getting a Randall.) |

Looks like H777650 from what I can make out on the caseback If I'm not mistaken H77650 is just the case back reference. The Watch Reference should be on the warranty card and the tag from the watch. My Ventura has H244112 on the case back, but the Watch Reference is H24411732 Reference 7765141 |

Most had been officers who got caught in the RIF. Everyone of them had a Rolex Sub or GMT. and a #14 or #1-8 Randall. They were a cocky breed but knew their stuff. Like putting cs powder in a zip lock bag then taping it to our claymore mines. Regards. |

Regards. Absolutely. When those guys were kicking ass in the 60s and early 70s. It was a time when the Sub or Randall was half again or twice the price of the Seiko or KaBar. By the mid 1980s, when I enlisted, Depending of if your bought the 20$ or 40$ Camillus or Kabar, etc., The Rolex and Randall were literally ten times the price of the Seiko or Kabar. Also, 18 had become its own MOS, And only a few previous 11B-sierras finishing their tour before going back to group. The PX Seiko 6309 was huge in SOF back then simply because of the significant price niche change. Guys were getting. Rolex when they were more senior. |
