16 year old is 5'4" 120ish and relatively muscular,  especially for a 16 y/o girl.  No pics, assholes.

My standard size scuba pro plate and donut are huge on her.  Does anyone make one slightly smaller for small statured people?  Or is it better to just use standard size?

I believe that Halcyon makes a small BP/W.

Halcyon short plate. I have it. I’m 5’5”. Puts belt at my waist rather than on hips. Use wing of your choice. I like Dive Rite. My DR doubles wing works fine with Halycon short plate. Not cheap. But worth every penny. Something around $225. Don’t expect to find one used. They are unicorns.

Halcyon short plate next to Halcyon standard sized plate. Both steel.

@Dan_Gray  if your daughter likes pink, I can recommend the pink H webbing. Nice and soft and easy to work with.

Short BP, no harness/hardware - $236.25

With harness and hardware - $315

Not cheap, but at least you don't have to worry about her growing out of it. I bit she won't grow that much taller. And if you did need to sell, I bet it keeps much of it's value, since used short plates are so rate.

Over $200 for a plate,  they've lost their fucking minds lol

She's into green stuff so far.  Bit of a tomboy, Thank God.

I'll agree it's fucking crazy, but it's made a huge difference for me. I was always fighting my standard sized plate. Belt was at my hips and often felt like it was going to fall off. There's no way I'd be able to dive my doubles in a standard sized plate.

Think - if you bought a regular BC, how much would you pay?

Do you want her to have gear that fits her or that she fights all the time? Either get her the short plate or another BC that fits her. Forcing her to use a standard size BP that’s too huge isn’t going to make her like diving.

The Halcyon plates pictured above don't have many wing position options....

You could go with a soft plate that come in sizes..sm, md lg.  Soprassub and Hollis make them.  But they are $250ish and come with a deluxe style harness.

Or.....use something like this.  They can't be more than 13" in length judging by the grommets.  I am eyeing this on myself.  The 'quick draw' rings suck btw. I have them on a Zeagle Express Tech and the waist strap wanders. I added tri-glides and problem solved.

I am assuming you want the weight of the SS plate. These options don't help in that regard.

I can have one custom made for less. That's an absolute rip off.

The short Oxycheq is good, so is the dogbone. Their soft plate works well for smaller statured people too. If you can find one of the DSS small plates those are solid pieces of kit.

A lot. Primarily they're not suitable for the types of diving she wants to do.

Then get her a custom BP. Lots of folks won’t have that option, I suspect.

Everyone has that option. Machine shop time is cheaper than that plate.

My wife dives a transpac. She is  5'2". Its not a hard plate per se' but it works well for recreational diving with a travel wing.
