Well, it's that time and I absolutely hate it.

I have to make that trip to the vet and help our American Mastiff, Shelby, cross the bridge.

About a week after she found us. She either escaped or was dumped by her previous owners.

Her favorite place to sit and wait for me to come home.

With her big "sister" Heidi, who will be waiting on her.

Her and her "brother" Bullit, he's about twice her size.

I have to get dressed now.

I have had to do that but I have a friend who is a vet and she gave me the means to do it at home.

It sucks cause you outlive your pets and you're the best friend they ever had.

No good day for these things.

1) This is GD, its considered tech

2) its actually common when living in boonies as vets can't just come out 50 miles away

Thanks for all the well wishes.

It hurts but was the best thing for her.

She was malnourished when she found us and that probably caused some joint development issues later.

She had to have bilateral TPLO surgery about 5 years ago after tearing the ACL in both knees chasing her brother. She bounced back from that but was never full speed afterwards.

She also had pretty bad hip dysplasia in her right hip.

The last week she could barely walk from the bedroom to the kitchen and we weren't going to put her through more surgeries.

She was a princess and knew it.

It is never easy, however our best friends depend on us to do the right thing.

I am sure when you look at her eyes she is telling you she is ready.

Very difficult but it is the right thing to do.

Sorry brother.
