Yep! Did you get a chance to interact? They can be standoffish and defensive by nature.
Fun to watch at work though. |

I got to interact with the older dog a bit, not much. It seemed more happy just to look at me. The puppy could've cared less about me.

I'm just here to say that the OP should be fired for using "ECT" in the thread title and the thread. That's not the abbreviation he thinks it is.

Got a few questions.
I have a female maligator puppy I brought home at about 8 weeks. While she did have some potty/housebreaking training at the kennel, it didn't seem to carry over at my home. Now I was to blame for one accident because I gave her water at late night just to stop her from begging. However, the remaining incidents, she relieved her bladder/intestines in front of me, without warning. Multiple times in one day. I didn't have her in a crate when I brought her home, and kept her on a bed. I took the bed away, and decided to keep her crated between every walk, play, meal, potty session - in order to deter her from soiling herself in her quarters and try to reinforce her only doing this when taken outside. Is the crate the best approach to the problem, and am I overusing it? She also has a habit of stealing household items or shoes, instead of using her toys. How do I break that behavior? |

View Quote Be consistent 100% of the time, it's never cute. it's never OK. For young pups we put any items out of reach if we can't watch the pup. 6months we start leaving them more and more items within reach. I correct them right away"bad" then put the item close by them where I can watch and wait. Correct, teach the command "leave it" when they start going for it, correction leave it. I toss it near by with a leave it. Then pick-up and put the item back where it belongs with a leave it command. Most important is consistency. good luck |

GSD owners, at what age did you change your dog from puppy food to adult food?
|
|
Here are my three. They said the little one on the right was part GSD when I got her from the pound last summer. Not sure what the other part(s) are. Either way, don't care she is an incredibly awesome, smart pup.

I was told they’re puppies until almost 2 years old due to growth plates in the bones
