Definitely The Last Dragon. Undercover Brother was damn funny though.

Good call. |

The Blacula poster didn't come through.
Blackspoitation at its finest. |

Can they figure out that the finger does not go on the trigger when not shooting.
Friday, Barbershop and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka are all classics.

THAT'S MY BIKE, PUNK! |

"Sounder" was really popular when I was a kid...I always remembered it as a Black version of Ol' Yeller
Undercover Brother, Barbershop and Malcolm X are my favorites. The only Spike Lee movie I like.
I think its "YOU got knocked the fuck out" |

+1 on Dead Presidents. Good heist flick and a good war flick. The soundtrack is awesome as well.
Anything from the Hughes Brothers or John Singleton is generally good. Boyz in the Hood and Menace To Society were revolutionary films in their own right. The Shaft remake, Baby Boy, Poetic Justice, and especially Four Brothers are good as well. |
Don't be A Menace To Society While drinking Gin and Juice...(I can't remember the whole title)
"My name's Dashiki. That's Swahili for doggy-style." Dashiki: "Children, what do we say when we meet a nice man?" Children: "Are you my Daddy?" |
They remade that movie with a slightly different cast. |

+100 HILLARIOUS movie. And even good messages on some level for the 'chillren I can still remember doubling over with laughter when the father has Craig come into the shitter and they've got this AWFUL "ploop" sound effect for every time a stink stick went downrange. "Boy! Get ya ass on in here! I smelt yo shit for 22 years, you can smell mine fo five minutes." |

I haven't watched the movie since I was 12 but I liked it so much I read the book and it was a big book. So my vote is Roots.

"And under no circumstances will you be allowed to play "Sweat From My Balls." |

Definitely. Friday was good, but it was no "Don't Be a Menace". |

My favorite would be ........Devil in a blue dress. I don't really think of it as a "black movie" but most of the key charcters are black. I love the charcter Mouse Alexander in the film.
Mouse: You said don't shoot him, right? Well I didn't; I strangled him. If you didn't want me to kill him, why did you leave me alone with him? |
I have to agree, pretty much coughed up all my soda and popcorn throughout the whole movie. I loved the part when they were getting high on the porch and went to get some Kool Aid. Priceless!!! |

I thought both Hotel Rwanda and Glory where very good. I'll put Dead Presidents on my "to watch" list
"Dead Presidents" is an excellent film, but I'll also have to chime in for Joe Morton in "Brother from Another Planet" and "Basquait". Two very good movies, and in "Basquait" watch for the everly-liscious Claire Forlani and, in some really weird casting, David Bowie as Andy Warhol.
"Glory"
"I'm gonna get you sucka" "Boys in the hood" was an eye opener for me. Excellent movie. |
dont be a menace...
DAISHIKI'S BABY'S DADDY IN PRISON: "i WANT TO KNOW MAN, HOW COME YOU NEVER CAME TO SEE ME ALL THESE YEARS WHILE I WAS LOCKED UP....." TREY: "NIGGA....I..DONT..KNOW...YOU........" "OH YEAH MAN...SORRY ABOUT THAT..." "cigarrette...?" "naw..ASHtrey" |
Glory is near the top of my list for any genre. Hotel Rwanda was very good too, and I'd have to agree w/ Boyz in the Hood.
