Thanks for the information. Had heard of Cinerama but didn’t understand the format.

I worked as a projectionist for more than a handful of years with 35mm on Simplex projector gear boxes, platter systems and a mix match of lamp systems. Audio was optical track on the print and run through mono and stereo equipment. Eventually we had a single screen with Digital Theater Systems (DTS) audio. The audio was on a CD-ROM and synced to the print through an optical time code on the print.

Fun times. I learned about older systems from the head projectionist. Arc rod lamp houses, reel change marks and many other things.

Digital has killed the mechanical wonder of film projection.
