a bit before my time, but I stumbled upon this gem last night
and decided to go 'all-in'.. I just bought 3 blurays
(this is high level overview...)
It was the 50's, Movies were losing ground to TV
they had to do something
Color had been around for almost 20 years (~)
they needed to bring back viewers.

Cinerama.
3 cameras recording a panoramic area and projected just the same on the big screen
they restored a handful of original movies, they did fairly well, but you can see some of the issues where the images overlap
I hope this is as good as I want to think it is, I love the old school color (reminds me of Kodachrome)
