Had my catalytic converter replaced several weeks ago due to a P0420 code.  Turns out the converter installed by the last shop was incorrect, undersized and had a huge split.  



They cleared the check engine light after replacement.  I threw my scanner on it and several of the emissions systems were flashing "not ready".  After about 50 miles they are all good except the evap system.  I've put close to 800 miles on two tanks of gas, city and interstate.  I'm not getting any check engine lights or having any other operational issues.



Thoughts?  The tech at the emissions inspection place said it just hadn't met operational conditions to run the test.  I would have assumed with that much driving it would have.

The evap monitor is the hardest out of all of them to complete.  Most cases, the requirements are something like "fuel must be between 'x' and 'y' temp, fuel level must be between 15-75%, ambient air temp must be between 41 and 100 deg F, if monitor does not complete on the first try, vehicle requires up to eight hours of cold soak time, drive in such a manner to minimize fuel sloshing, maintain 55 mph for ten minutes while not exceeding 60% throttle position and sacrificing a dead chicken on the center console" and so on.

It's a really, really hard monitor to complete, especially if you live somewhere with a lot of traffic.

As of tonight I'm at 1200 miles since the converter replacement.  That includes a solid three hour drive tonight at 65-80mph sustained.  Started out the trip with a full tank of gas.  

I've been in the habit of checking it every time I get in the car.  Not sure what changed but at the end of my trip around town today it was all cleared.
