Some other guys are taking theirs in the water, I don’t plan on it unless it’s 4 feet deep or less

Another failure..BRAKES ARE STILL STUCK! I can’t believe it. It’s literally a middle finger to myself and m35ben. It’s the proverbial albatross around the neck.

for the love of all that is good and holy
Un stick yourselves.

They’re adjusted all the way out and still stuck.

There has to be a problem with the calipers or a blockage somewhere.

Are they fail safe emergency brakes?  Like airbrakes?  Or the shoes have just soaked up so much brake fluid they've expanded so much they can't be adjusted?

We are at a loss.

I have a set of extra brake shoes.

My parts supply is drying up right now.

I'll start by saying that I'm assuming these work like car brakes.

When you let off the pedal,  does the pressure in the lines drop?  Loosen a fitting near the wheel and see if the fluid squirts out or drips out.

Do you have a pressure gage you can attach to the lines to see what is happening?  I have a set that has been sitting in the garage since I put disc brakes on the Charger 15+ years ago.  I'll send it to you if you want but you'll have to store it until I need it again which I don't see happening.

Let me know.

I think I have the right front figured out now. The wheel cylinder was not returning all the way causing the brake to drag the apply.

Went from 2 stuck brakes to no brakes. Not a good day, but we will probably have to rebuild all the cylinders and there is another blockage somewhere.

I was able to get the correct gunsight today. My vehicle had a kpvt/pkt gunsight and I traded it with another brdm owner for the correct PKT only
Gunsight.

Uhhh... I have those same Jackstands. I have no problem with those Harbor Freight Jackstands holding up a 2-ton Jeep, but I'm thinking you're a mite bit heavier than that.

Those aren't harbor freight stands. The are Mac tools. They have some better quality control.
Edit to add: they are 6 ton stands.

Cleaned, wire wheeled, and degreased 2 more deck plates and a knee knocker. Wife will paint them tomorrow with 2 coats of hammerite dark green.

Not a correct copy of the interior original lower hull paint (top half is white) but close enough.

I get shit from our HOA for working on my cars in the driveway...

Imagine if I bring a Large Green Soviet era Armored Vehicle to my home to wrench on it in the driveway in plain sight of the neighborhood karens & kens ...

Who'd then be able to laughingly shout ...  "O.K. - BRING IT HOA!! -- Oh BRING IT!!!"

Good work - I'd love to have a project like your land ship, (defined as a hole that you fill with money) but the cool factor is off the charts...

That's exactly what one of my upperclassmen from A&M did - Tony Buzbee, Esq.  He was the lead lawyer on the BP Gulf oil spill case, and donated a building to Texas A&M from the proceeds.  He also bought an M4 Sherman, and parked it in front of his house in Houston.  His HOA booted it.  I don't think he really cared.

One day when it's done, in the next 1-2 weeks. Hopefully it stays dry and no crazy rain storms again.

I specifically picked an area without an HOA. It was one of my biggest requirements.

I had to walk a tough line to get my stuff approved. The hassle from the city is unbeleivable. Permit for this, inspection requirements for welding, foundation, etc. Front farther section of the concrete can't be any further than the back of the house. Oh FFS. Looking back I should have dug a little deeper and gotten a 40x60. Would have hurt more but I realized how quickly this is gonna fill up. I do hope to get another vehicle in the next 1-2 years, possibly a ferret, OT64, BRDM1/2, PLDVK, or BTR60. Something along that line. And a m900 to tow it around and my class A dl.

Some of the restrictions on our deed are things like "No trucks over 1/2 tons parked in the driveway". Well, the BRDM isn't a truck (although it's a steel hull with truck components) so we skated that one. Can't work on vehicles in the front yard visible from the street. Really? Get bent, communist swine. It's not enforceable and I don't comply, anyways.
