so my 2002 Avalanche z71 (g80 locking diff) blew a tire right before i got home.  put the spare on and drove the few miles home (3-4 miles, dont think i got much past 40 mph, all straightaways except 2 turns at the end).  Wasnt till i got home i realized that the spare is "smaller" than the other 3.  Nitto terra grapplers 285/70/17 all the way around and the spare is a regular truck tire but in 265/75/17.  I didnt "feel" any difference but i was wondering more about the diff seeing how its 2 different sizes.

My next question is, would it be ok to drive the truck 4 miles (5 turns total) to the tire shop to have them replace the tire or should i just throw it in a different vehicle and take it down?

next time put the spare on the front and the good front on the back if this still worries you.  I believe you can run a small percentage of size difference without issue (not certain of the number, 5% or less?)

Not a problem for a short drive.

If it's got a limited slip rear differential...it might not be that good on it.

You’re totally fine driving to the tire shop. Like 1000%.

You'll be fine to make it that far.  Hey at least you noticed and didn't drive on it like that for a few months!

Drove there this morning and got the tire fixed. I didnt feel any issues while driving there or on my 25 mile drive to work.   I did ask the tire  shop and they said it was ok and atleast I didnt drive on the tire for months like alot of people do

It's fine, you could drive on it forever with no ill effects. The only time it would be a problem is if you have a friction type LSD, which is uncommon any more with modern brake based traction control systems.

You’re only looking at 1.6mm overall difference in height. Not a problem.  The width difference isn’t an issue.

That’s very different from the OP’s situation. Several inches in diameter difference vs fractions of an inch. His LSD will be fine.

4 or 5 miles, no big deal... keep the speed down, i would not go over 60 or so, unless emergency.
