I posted this over on the Civic forums too. Did some searching and couldn't find a good match to my problem.

Any help appreciated!

Ok I'm running a 2000 Civic HX manual with about 187000 miles. It has
had good routine maintenance and I just had the belts/water pump change
at 180ish.

For the last couple weeks I had been having a problem when cruising at a
steady 2500 RPM in 3rd gear I could feel a miss and the CEL would flash
for a few seconds. As soon as I accelerated it would go away. It does
not seem to occur when driving at faster speeds in the same RPM range.

I have used HEET and injector cleaner but the symptoms have not improved. I installed new plugs and wires about 12000 miles ago.

I used the jumper trick and counted the flashes on the CEL.

I think I have the correct translations.

12 - EGR - exhaust gas recirculation lift valve

71 - random misfire cylinder 1

72 - random misfire cylinder 2

73 - random misfire cylinder 3

74 - random misfire cylinder 4

80 - EGR Valve/Line

I guess the question is - Can the EGR cause the misfires? The car
doesn't seem to have degraded mileage but I don't want to destroy it.

I found a Duralast EGR for pretty cheap and it looks like an easy install.

Here is what I found http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/egr-fix/index.html

Any help would be appreciated I am a little over my head on this one....

Yes sticky/stuck EGR valves can cause problems.

My S10 occasionally acts up like this, I take a hammer and TAP on the valve a few times and it runs fine for another year or so.

Do a compression check to rule out the obvious causes for the misfires - I chased a CEL "misfire" on #3 for while on my '97 Civic......

EGR causing problems? Not likley. Back when I was into Mitsubishi's (hence the SN) we used to junk them and use a blockoff plate to plug the manifold. Sure, the CEL would go on but it didnt hurt anything. As a matter of fact, it kept unburned fuel, oil, and carbon out of the intake.

My money is on a bad dizzy or cracked cover. Since your having misfires on all cyl's you could pretty much rule out plugs/wires.
You might also check your FP while your at it. You might not be getting enough fuel.
