I picked up a new camcorder this weekend, a Canon HF R10. The video looks great on the built in LCD, but....
As a background, I've been using a ~5 year old SD everio with windows movie maker without issue, but this new one is driving me nuts.
First off the software that came with the camera only partially works. It will import, and it will open the player, but if you try to open movies for editing it crashes. So I tried using windows to import the files (it worked) and windows movie maker to edit, but every clip has the same issue - any motion results in horizontal lines across the picture. (I'm sure there's a term for this but I have no idea what it's called.) I also downloaded a trial version of a editor from cnet, tht just made it worse. I finally managed to open the viewer that came with the camera - the video looks great on there, but it's of no use since the video crashes.
So, anyone know what the problem may be? Do I need a different editor? or do I have some kind of codec issue?
I have to admit, video editing is something I know very little about (fairly obvious given my use of windows movie maker
)
