How did you take the picture that stopped the plan's motion yet the propeller is not stopped. Or is the blade tip arc photoshopped in?

Panning with the plane's motion.

...and discarding the many others in the series that were not sharp.

I know from experience that a shutter of 1/125 is a good balance between capturing good propeller blur and my ability to hold a steady shot, so I set ISO and aperture to allow that shutter, and set the camera for the fastest frame rate it can deliver. A majority of a given series is not successful (either a part of the subject is out of frame or focus was off or - more often - motion blur from poor panning).

This is why I'm happy to have left the film era behind.

Haven't even picked up a camera in a few weeks (the horror!) but then the BIL showed up this evening in his new ride.

This thing is sweet.

Chrome and antique parts are so much fun to photograph even when the light sucks.  105mm + a 1.5TC shooting f/9 in horrible lighting conditions had my D850 pushing the extreme end of ISO performance.  Damn if chrome doesn't look good in crazy lighting though.

Durango, Colorado.

I had forgotten what a smoke filled bar smelled like, but at this point, I was just happy to find some place that was still open.

Guess who got a new foot??!!

This thing is slick.  Yeah, the factory foot worked, but I had to use an adapter ARCA plate, which I hated.  One more point of failure.

Plus, it's got a QD socket.

Oh yeah.  Aside from just doing the right thing you have to understand my fascination with turtles.  Ever since I was a little kid, and Dad would find a box turtle in the yard and bring it in to me (which I'd keep as a "pet" for a week or so before turning loose) I've had a soft spot for them.  I mean, how can you NOT like a critter that carries his house around on his back?

Suction Turtle was pried off the pipe and carried to the OTHER side of the dam for release.  Wife was worried he'd just get stuck again.

Interwebs says turtle can hold their breath from 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on species; just how lucky was that little redear that we decided to go for a stroll when we did?

Oh, and photo a day!

320 basal area at this plot.  A normal "high" basal area is 120-150.  Trees just stacked in there.
