USAF    1982-1992
WANG   1992-Present

I've got enough crap on my uniform to be a russian general.  I'm not saying I've seen it all, but I'm getting close to saying I've seen enough.

USMC 1990-1998, Infantry four years and a lateral move to Artillery for for years. Served in both Desert Storm and Somalia.

Took ten years off and joined the National Guard a year and half ago. Just got activated to go with the 81st Brigade when they deploy this summer.

USA 1997-2001 (Active Duty Time...IRR is a given)

From 1997- early 1998  Fort McClellan, AL USACMLS...yep, bugs n' gas...

1998-early 2000  HHC 2ID Korea and B Btry 1-15 FA

2000-2001  B Trp 1/11 ACR (OPFOR), Fort Irwin, NTC, Beautiful Downtown Barstow, CA.

For some reason, I did way too many things OTHER than my assigned MOS...but, that's the way it goes.   Oh, I did get a nice imprint on my BDUs from the Indianhead...but other than some pieces of metal and ribbon, and some really good stories, all I got out of it was college and a DD214.

I haven't served, but I do have a great respect for those who do.

My sister is currently serving in the USAF.
She just made Colonel 2 months ago!
She's a graduate from the USAF Academy and worked hard to become a medical doctor.
Served in overseas at a few locations.  Only one I remember right now was Turkey (before the invasion of Iraq)

[Edited]  Damn.. need to remember to hit the spell checker, or learn to spell or reread what I type!

Lucky for you she's USAF.  If she was Army or a Marine she'd probably slap you for spelling Colonel that way.

Just pitching you shit.  Just in case that doesn't come across like it.

I think my original post in the last vet thread was "cleaned up" deleted. I saw a response to a question asked about my service, but not the original post. So without further ado:

USAF
2W251 Nuclear Weapons Tech
Lackland AFB, TX 08/98-10/98
Sheppard AFB, TX 10/98-02/99
Minot AFB, ND 02/99-07/02

Loved the perks of my job, loved the AF, but wasn't so hot on the military. Chain of command is awesome, but in the civilian world, I get to walk away from poor leadership and find a new employer.

I figure this is as good a thread as any with which to check in here for the first time.

Anyway, my 28 years of active and reserve Naval service will come to an end in ten short days on 1 October. Looking back, it was kinda like raising my kid - it was both fun and painful at turns, but went by sooooo very fast.

I've been lurking for a while so I feel like I already know some of the regulars here, and you're a lot like my Navy brothers 'cept maybe more gay. Since most of them will be heading back to box - without me this time - I guess it's time to cultivate some new friends.

p.s. - I'll buy the first round, and I'm not a fucking Fed. Now where are the good shooting spots?

Welcome to the tryouts for the New Village People. Beer. Don't forget the beer. Keep your Friday nights open. Shooting spots? I try to mix it up to keep it interesting. Sometimes the mall, sometimes a park& ride, bus stop bums from a moving car for bonus points...
