Can't decide between 13 inch or longer , how many yards would a 13 be good for? Would a 13 inch be a waste.

if you want a shorty just stick with a 16in

With a too short barrel you are probably better off just converting it to 7.62x39mm

Yep, no velocity and too much fire ball. IMHO 18" is the practical limit for .308.

I just got done building/converting four carbine's. I did them all at 17.3", because thats what FN determined as the most optimum length.
