If a group buy goes through, count me in for 30 magazines.

I understand Checkmate is the current supplier of M14 mags to Uncle Sugar...

What would additional for shipping likely be? There's shipping to a central point and subsequent shipping and what about costs. Total up to ?  Maybe $25.00? I'd be interested in a few, maybe.  At least they would be GI mags as compared to a lot of other so-called GI mags out there now.

I don't know from Checkmate to whoever takes on the buy.  I know I can fit 15 AK47 30RD mags into one $7.50 flat rate USPS Priority box.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Checkmate the same company that made and supplied all the defective 9mm beretta mags to the military?

He and the other M14 users received New-In-Blue-Plastic-Wrap USGI M14 twenty round magazines with the Check-Mate Industries Wyandanch, NY marking on the packaging.  They began receiving the Check-Mate Industries M14 magazines in the summer of 2005.  He and other M14 users opened the blue plastic NIW packages and used the magazines in their issue M14 rifles before his battalion departed in September, 2005.  They got NIW USGI M14 cleaning kits from Check-Mate Industries too while in Baghdad.

He also reported that the M14 rifles over there were issued with Springfield Armory, Inc. Third Generation scope mounts and Tasco scopes.  He preferred the iron sights so he took his SA, Inc. scope mount and Tasco scope off and just used the iron sights.  He is a BIG fan of the M14.  I had the opportunity to meet him at LRB Arms on December 05, 2005 and pick his brains.

He said typically he would engage bad guys from the turret of his Hummvee while they drove down Airport Road.  The bad guys would pop up from bridges as the Humvees would approach and pass under.  He said the M14s were issued one per squad for the 1st Battalion 69th Infantry Regiment.

FWIW, I have three ten round Check-Mate Industries magazines (marked C.M.I.).  They have always worked flawlessly for Mrs. Different and I.  In fact, I used them in a two day Tactical Rifle course last year with www.tftt.com  Both my M1A and the ten round magazines worked flawlessly throughout the two day course.  I went through about 340 rounds in the course.

Additional first-hand testimony to the look and fuction of new Check-Mate Industries magazines.  See post by bigsarg99 at

Rock Island Arsenal gave Check-Mate Industries the entire Technical Data Package for the M14 magazines, technically M14A1 magazines.  I know because I have electronic copies of the CMI contract documents and the M14 magazine Technical Data Package issued by Rock Island Arsenal.  These CMI magazines are good to go.

I found a bidding contract online, they were making 397,996 mags for $8.61 each, if I read it correctly.
Quoting www.fulton-armory.com/M14Mags.htm

Note: CMI was the last known military contract maker. (Circa 1990/1991.) This contract was reportedly done for the U.S. Navy for M14 deck rifles used during the Gulf War. According to Clint McKee of Fulton Armory, the quality of these magazines was not quite as good as from earlier contracts.
