It's very easy to tell a metric FAL mag from an M1A mag. The M1A mag has a rectangular locking lug that's attached to the magazine body. It's about 3/4" long, 1/4" wide and is located about 1/4" from the top of the mag body. The FAL mag has a much smaller lug that's punched out of the mag body itself. However, inch pattern FAL mags have a lug similar to the M1A, but it's much wider. But for inch mags the floorplate is wider than the mag body, so you can always tell that way. Anyway, figure $35-$45 depending on wear. |
| Something similar happened to me at a gun show once. A dealer had 11 USGI mags, used but in VGC, and he had a bunch of Chinese mags. He somehow got it all confused and was asking $17 for the USGIs and something like $10 for the Chinese mags. I asked him three times if the price was correct, and he even verified it with another guy behind the counter. I asked him more than once because I knew what they were worth and I did not just want to take him for a ride in case they screwed up. Anyway, I walked out of there with 11 USGI mags fro $17 a piece. When you see ridiculous prices at gun shows, it is a great feeling to find some deals. |

All of the 20rd Chinese mags I've seen are of high quality. The 5 & 10rd mags are built well too but are a bit tight in the mag well.
