Does anyone make a steel or aluminum heat shield for these? I just got my SDS wood and it looks great, I'd love to complete the Trench Gun look. I also feel like a Heat Shield would let me "C Clamp" the dang thing during rapid fire for better recoil management. I found some polymer ones, but I don't think it would mesh well with the wood/metal aesthetic. I suppose I can always mod one for the Mossberg 500/590. It's just thin steel after all. Found this on a Reddit Post ![]() This one was from a Mossberg Reddit Post |

RXArms makes heat shield but it's $$$$ https://rxarms.com/product-category/benelli-m4-parts-and-accessories/ Found this one too but it's Zytel https://www.shotgunheatshield.com/benelli-m4-tactical-heat-shield-ranger-bands-mod-shotgun-custom-fit-semi-autos/ |

Otherwise my hand wants to slide toward the sling plate. I might look into wood stippling at some point to enhance the texture. Normally I just add a shockwave style strap to my forends. Stippled polymer handguards are nice too. |

I will probably modify the mossberg one after all. Will report when I get back to it. Speaking of money: I'm surprised that Woox doesn't make furniture tbh. |
| Didn't someone here have a contact at Panzer or SDS? We need them to manufacture and import some 14" barrels now that tax stamps are $0. I saw where Black River Manufacturing makes or made some but every single review I saw on them was negative, even their regular length barrels get negative reviews. |

Just saw that Panzer is offering their walnut M4 furniture separately, so I’m ordering a couple sets, and I’ll try out the cheap zytel heat shield. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just keep me from burning another thumb print on my barrel, lol. |

Still have my CD 601 DPS but it got moved to deeper storage late last year, so I needed a new one to play with. It seems pretty nice overall and SDS is doing good providing affordable parts. I emailed them asking about 14" barrels which they declined to answer but said they were always looking to expand. ETA - I got one of the MAC “breacher” stocks in this week. I haven’t pulled off the factory fixed stock yet, but it looks like their collapsing stock goes together differently than the Benelli or Sulun ones that mount on the tube. Appears to be a sleeve that goes over the recoil tube maybe? |

Sure, it was one of the first non-Benelli adjustable stocks out there. They work just fine but they weren’t commercially available in the US. We were importing them from New Zealand of all places before Customs shut it down. I haven’t seen one since but I also haven’t looked. They do look more like the traditional Benelli version. Sulun was one of early (maybe better) Turk clones that was going into Canada and New Zealand and the Charles Daly 601 DPS was the US import for it.I did just spend the evening with the MAC one and I’m pretty impressed with it for $75. It bolts onto the recoil tube just like the fixed stocks do. Which I don’t know if the later Turknelli clones are made like Benelli or the early ones, but to install the other adjustable stocks you had to torch off the locktite and replace the recoil tube with one that had the cut outs for the stock stops. Also thread it in just far enough so when you screw the grip on, you don’t have a gap, but not too far because then the bolt will get stuck. This was pretty challenging and I think I have pics of the process towards the beginning of the thread. With the MAC style, any M4 recoil tube, to include the slick non-adjustable ones, can mount this stock. That’s a pretty big deal. Take out the 6mm bolt of the fixed stock, slap on the new stock, put another 6mm bolt in. Done. No propane torch required! The only downside I’ve noted is the MAC stock deletes the sling loop and requires you to use a QD swivel to get one back. Not a big deal, just a little surprised they don’t mold a loop in. My recommendation would be to try out the MAC one for $75, see if you like it, it’s easy to install or remove. Meanwhile, if you want the authentic Italian one or one of the other clones, keep an eye out for them. |

I say if you have a good M4 Clone and want a good collapsible stock. Go all in. This one's a keeper. Attached File |

Took a moment to grab a pic of my MAC 1014 as it stands. Attached File And my old CD 601 DPS in its final config. Attached File I do like the adjustable cheekpad on MAC stock, that's a nice touch. It seems like the only available one-piece mag tubes are the crazy expensive ones. DMW seems like they're out of everything these days. I think I'm going to get one of those bolt release tabs to try out and a bigger charging handle for the MAC. Debating the improved carriers, I *really* do not want to take an M4-style trigger group apart, even a little, ever again. |

That looks cool, now I want a bayonet lug even though you can't fit a bayonet to the gun. Somebody needs to make a mag cap like the Mossberg 590A1 style.ETA- Ugh, I don't want one bad enough to spend $180. https://sjhardware.com/product/bayonet-mount-set-for-benelli-m4/ |

Edited after reading again. Clean the threads. You likely have locktite in the receiver and on the tube threads. It doesn't take much. The Benelli tube fits the Panzer. It is a bit snug but the threads are the same. Or use the heat gun to install the tube like when removing. Benelli Tube on my Panzer SPEED. Attached File |

For anyone who's been looking for the Panzer 7 round mag tube I just noticed Classic has them in stock at the moment. Normal price, $36, but everybody seems to have been out recently. These work fine with the MACs and I would guess the other M1014/M4 clones. Remember to heat the receiver and tube before attempting to remove, they use a lot of that Turkish thread locker. https://www.classicfirearms.com/panzer-arms-m4-tactical-7-round-full-length-magazine-tube-pam47rtsb/ |

Ah, I’m trying to go shorter, the +2 on right now is great, but I want to SBS this with a 14” barrel so I need a 5 round tube that matches the length of the Benelli, (Panzer 5 round is slightly too long) I reached out to MAC but they don’t offer the mag tube for sale |

That sucks. It has to be a slight tolerance issue. Mine was snug but threaded in all the way by hand. Maybe it could have the threads chased on a lathe? ETA: Another idea. The tolerance issue is likely in the receiver. You may be able to use a honing compound and the old Panzer Tube and work it all the way in the receiver twisting it just a wrist turn several times back and forth just to smooth and open the threads up a bit inside the receiver. Or Orthos also sales the 5 round Turkish Made Tube. SBS Magazine Tube Kit M4 $149.99Price https://www.orthosarms.com/product-page/sbs-extended-magazine-tube-kit-m4 But I think you should be able to get the Benelli tube to work. |
|
I would not count on the existing gas system to be calibrated to run with a shortened barrel. If I wanted a SBS semi-auto, I’d think about getting the Mossberg semiautomatic “firearm” with the birds-head grip, and add a buttstock. If adding the buttstock somehow makes the Mossberg malfunction, you’re only out the price of a buttstock. |

Hmmm- I like the idea of a lapping compound on the panzer tube…. I’m leery of buying the Ortho tube- if it is my receiver out of spec, I might have the same fit issues. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll play around with bit and let you know what happens I’ve not seen many reviews at all on the Black River barrels, but like Ortho, they’re part of Armsco. Black River also didn’t have just the tubes to sell but maybe they just do under the Orthos name for more $$$. Panzer 7 round tube is only $60 |

I don't think yours is "Out Of Spec" per se. For the Turkish Spec. Yours is likely ever so slightly on the tighter side. I believe they copied the Benelli threads. They got really close. The pitch is right, But the Turkish ones seem ever so slightly less pronounced. Mine threaded in by hand but was very snug. With this being the case. All it would take is a thousandth of an inch and it wouldn't thread in either. This is why a lapping compound should work as the Panzer Tube is also steel. And the receiver is softer coated aluminum. If you coat the receiver threads with a Q-tip and thread the Panzer Tube all the way in then work it out and back in with just one twist of the wrist back and forth. You should be able to open it up enough to get the Benelli tube in. |

The Benelli is the right length, but the threads, despite looking very similar, are different. Anyone know of a 5 shot Turkish M4 tube that matches the length of the benelli ? I also believe it's tolerance stacking. I have a nickel G-Force M4 clone. I got the Panzer nickel extension and it wouldn't thread on. I was able to mostly to force it to thread on, lapping compound problem would have helped. But it was still 1/2" off when threaded on. So I bought a Panzer full tube and it fit perfectly. I'm not sure if the nickel finish on my tube added to the slightly oversized threads. I also think the 2 manufacturers threaded to different depths, so they weren't compatible. There has to be somebody that has a 5-shot tube take off that you can have or buy. I have a nickel one, but am also pondering doing a barrel chop. I probably won't as the barrels are hard to find as is and the nickel makes it even more difficult to source. I don't want a 2-tone set up. The entire reason I got the nickel G-Force was it as 10% the cost of a Benelli M4 H2o ($200 vs. $2K). |
